Is the human race stupid enof to turn on a machine that could open up a black hole on our planet. These men could end us all and all they do is cockly say...it will never happen cause we're that smart. It makes me sick. And i personaly can't take it... the last few weeks have been soo hard..knowing that we could all be wiped out in seconds. I don't know if i will make it to sept 10, i am really thinking about ending my own life just so i don't have to find out.

  1. yo chll out man dont kill urselft..i heard there was a small chance it will wipe us out..and idk what elese

  2. The LHC will not produce a massive planet eating black hole or anything like that, the science just isn't there. read or listen to the source for more info

    V

  3. It creates an extremely small black hole, and from what I've read, their last spawned was only open for what, a millionth of a second?

    It won't be that bad.

  4. Because it won't

  5. Hmm - your logic decodes as this: They're making something that might kill us all. Therefore I'm going to kill myself.

    ?

Okay - killing self = guaranteed chance of death.

Chance of being killed by black hole = more remote than being struck by lightning while holding 5 consecutive winning lottery tickets while observing a total eclipse of the Sun as you're being hit by a meteor.

It's like saying that a tonka truck might drive really fast and crash through the wall and collapse your house - the toy simply doesn't have enough power to do so. If the entire mass of the Earth were to be crunched into a black hole, it would be smaller than a golf ball.... do you really think we have that kind of power?

The scientists are secure in turning on the LHC just as you would be secure that squirting an eyedropper on the windshield of an armoured car isn't going to damage it.

As otherwise stated, these black holes will be so small that an atomic nucleous will be amazingly enormous next to it, and it will evaporate in less than a millisecond. No danger there - it would have to work hard just to swallow a single electron before it evaporated - that would be like you eating a blue whale in 1 second.....

  6. Just be sure you have made peace with the creator GOD by repenting and believeing on his Son Jesus...your friend james the hollow earth man

  7. Stop reading lies on the internet.  The people who go on about danger from the LHC are pig-ignorant jerks and would not know if a train was up them until people got out and started slamming the doors.

I have been on Y!A for almost two years and I have come to realise that far too many people do not know their ar$es from their elbows, yet they blather on about this and that as if they actually knew something. All they are doing is repeating something that some other stupid lunk told them and probably distorting that too.

  8. ...despite what others say, you are correct in feeling the way you do.

For mankind has stepped up to the plate many times with inventions and discoveries which could literally end life as we know it.

They say they are smart enough and yet the nuclear bombs are still being created and distributed in the world.

This race is not at the age of Golden awareness to say they know will happen when such and such does this and that. Maybe for the small things, but not for the grander and more dangerous things.

People are not aware that they are not aware of potential dangers.

If you sense danger in this experiment, without influence from others, through intuition, then you be the judge. However, taking your own life is the greatest sin. You have family that needs you, and if a crisis should arise, you should be there to help them.

    Take care.

  9. This is just like the question: "why climb that mountain?"

Its the same answer. Because it's there. We're a curious people and contrary to popular belief, curiosity did not kill the cat. He had worms!

I'm sure its the very fact that there are unknowns that is why we must pursue it!!!  When you think about how few true mysteries are left on our planet, we have to throw the switch.

Its exactly why we have astronauts and test pilots and explorers.  Risk... Risk is our business. That's why we have life... To boldly ask new and interesting questions!!!

  10. BE AFRAID!

    BE VERY AFRAID!

THE LARGE HADRON COLLIDER WAS BUILT AS PART OF AN EVIL PLOT TO KILL US ALL!

Once it's fully operational, it will open up a portal to an alternate dimension where theres an alternate version of earth thats just like ours except everyone has a goatee.  These goatee wearing people will enslave us and force us all to labor in mines for the rest of eternity.  Suicide is the only way to save yourself from them!

  11. The cosmic rays that bombard the Earth routinely have energies greater than the LHC will get to, and they don't cause the Universe to spontaneously disintegrate!

cosmic ray collisions in the earth's upper atmosphere are far more energetic than the LHC can ever hope to achieve and have naturally occurred for billions of years without triggering a catastrophe. If a mini black hole were produced in the LHC, it would immediately decay. If, for some unknown reason, it did not decay it would sink to the centre of the earth and consume our entire planet - in about a gazillion years.

  12. you have the web... so you can get to Wiki.... go read about 'particle accelerators.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particle_ac...

... you will find there's gobs of them working ALREADY here on Earth, they've been smashing atoms since around the 1930's and you ain't been killed YET, now have ya??????.... these folks KNOW what they are doing.... you don't have a clue, yet you're ready to chuck it all cuz yer scared of what MIGHT happen?.... get real, friend.... learn what it IS and how it works.... look it up , too.. the Large  Hadron Collider is just the newest of the bunch.... now, relax and enjoy your life........ps... there was a bunch of folks who were terrified of nuclear bombs... they were sure that the bomb would set the atmosphere on fire..... hmmmmm .... that didn't happen, either, now did it?.....and we ended up with nuclear power plants.... a little iffy, but cheap electricity none the less..... as long as it's handled with care, right??..... trust the people who run the science, kiddo.... they've made good things happen for us and haven't killed us all yet..... and won't.........

  13. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!  You only get out what you put in in terms of energy and matter.  You can't create it..you can't destroy it.  The people at CERN are not going destroy the earth by smashing a few million protons at near light speed nor will it open up a massive black hole that will swallow the whole earth.

  14. i havent heard anything at all of what your talking about. theres going to be a machine that could create a black hole which could then devior the earth? wow. i need to pay more attention. your talking about killing yourself. when i didnt even know about this event.

well. im living my life happily. i think im going to go buy new shoes tomorrow for school.

  15. >Why are we turning on a machine that could kill us all?

I suppose you're talking about the LHC. In reality there is not really any more danger from the LHC than there is from, say, a nuclear weapon test...in fact probably much less danger. Although there are a few potential doomsday scenarios that have been put forwards, the chances of any of these actually happening are VERY remote.

    >Is the human race stupid enof to turn on a machine that could open up a black hole on our planet.

We're stupid enough to do a lot of things. Hopefully we're also smart enough to do them carefully.

    >These men could end us all and all they do is cockly say...it will never happen cause we're that smart.

Excuse me, you seem to have no real understanding of the situation. Scientists are not nearly careless enough to use 'we're that smart' as a reason to do anything of this sort. The reason the black hole doomsday scenario isn't going to happen is because black holes that small disintegrate extremely quickly, exploding in a tiny burst of energy that still wouldn't be visible to the human eye but can be detected with the right instruments. The important thing to keep in mind here is that cosmic rays impacting the Earth's atmosphere achieve these same energy levels, so if the LHC succeeds in creating black holes, all it will mean is that black holes are coming into existence and vanishing more or less constantly right over our heads, and have been for some four and a half billion years. In other words, if the LHC is going to kill us all, cosmic rays should already have done so, billions of years before we even came into existence.

    >I don't know if i will make it to sept 10, i am really thinking about ending my own life just so i don't have to find out.

The good news is, you don't need to find out because scientists have already found out for you! Either the LHC will fail to make black holes, or, more likely, it will succeed but the black holes- just like the ones produced by cosmic rays in the atmosphere- will explode immediately and not cause anybody any harm.

That said, whether or not you kill yourself is entirely up to you and I wouldn't want to bias your judgement on that point.

  16. First off, relax.  In order to have a dangerous blackhole, you'd need something with the mass AND gravity of about 5 - 10 of our suns confined to an incredibly small area.  The "mini blackholes" they are referring to are formed when the nucleus of some atoms are fused together.  The mass is so small that there is not enough gravity to sustain a black hole.  Most people don't realize, but black holes can evaporate in a form of Hawking radiation.  Since we cannot generate enough mass and gravity, these black holes disappear immediately.

Also, these statements are classic of what happened before the first atomic bomb tests were done.  A scientists explains to the media of what is going to happen.  The media, wanting to sell as many articles as possible, exaggerates the information...generally causing concern and sometimes hysteria among the general public and sometimes politicians.  Besides, they've already fired off some test shots and have had some luck with their findings...and we are still here.

  17. No, you have it all wrong. The human race is apparently stupid enough to think the world will end because of the LHC (it does have a name, you know). I don't know how many times I have to say it!

There are NO dangers associated with the LHC. It would take more energy in the galaxy to recreate the big bang, and a particle accelerator would have to be larger than the solar system in order to create a black hole with a mass of at least one kilogram.

I really wish people would do the research before they post these questions. The people running the LHC are university educated physicists. You do not have a degree in particle physics so obviously they know more about the risks then you do. They are sensible enough to know nothing would happen. And please, at least spell "enough" correctly.

Don't bother ending your life for nothing.

What makes people think that the world will end because of the LHC? Did you miss physics class or something? Black holes don't automatically suck everything in that comes within its vicinity. These black holes will evaporate in less than a second.

    Research the following:

    -Microscopic black holes

    -Super-massive black holes

-Formula to calculate gravitational attraction between two objects

    -Hawking radiation

At least understand these things on the *basic* level before you go accusing people of ending the world. Visit the *official* homepage of the LHC:
