Why are we(Americans) such hypocrites?

i mean seriously, We accuse China because of the lip syncing girl? I mean come on it's not like we did it before. U.S. popstars do it all the time like Britney Spears in the VMA and so many more. It's kind of rude to say that the Chinese cheat when they don't even have proof. It's not like we had U.S. Olympians that cheated as well? Remember Marion Jones? Yeah just give me your opinion.

It makes us hipicrits for pointing it out. The reason China did it was out of superficiality, and it is pretty mean to decide a little girl wasn't cute enough. But yea,we can be hipicrits. But it doesn't justify what China did.

Do you not remember the backlash Ashley Simpson got for lip syncing?  How about Milli Vanilli?

I think people who lip sync are a joke.  Most of them are talentless and can't pull off a show without doing it.  Anybody can sound good in a studio when you get as many takes as you want.

So there is my stance on lip syncing.  So if I say what China did there was a joke, how does that make me a hypocrite?

I don't think Americans are hypocrites. I believe most genuinely sympathize with the "ugly" talented girl whose not getting the credit she deserves, as do most Chinese netizens judging from their internet response.

But there's a large group of Americans who don't trust China because what happened in 1989. And also because of the "anti Evil communism" sentiment, and left-over cold war mentality. (I mean, come on, let's be rational: since when do communist countries embrace Starbucks and Mcdonalds? Look at North Korea, THAT'S a real communist country)

Its that same group of Americans who frequently discount all of China's efforts and accomplishments and find fault in everything China does.

get some fresh air and get some perspective.  us popstars lipsync for completely different reasons.  the chinese government deemed the girl wasn't pretty enough to sing.  marion jones? yeah she cheated, so what?  

she got her medals taken away.  did the chinese girls give back their medals yet?  last i checked, no.  you suck too, that is my only opinion, of course.

I'm sorry, but I find it disgraceful that a little girl with an amazing voice "wasn't cute enough" to perform at the opening ceremony. And last time I checked, Britney Spears isn't performing at any Olympic opening ceremonies. I also think that it's terrible that nobody can keep the ages of these girls straight. I've heard that they're 14, 16, 11 - stuff all over the place. Maybe they're not underage, but it looks pretty suspicious when no two sources give the same age for these girls. I'm no longer sore about us getting the silver, any medal is an accomplishment, but I hate to think that China would get away with cheating right under the IOC's nose.

(talking about music video.... don't u know that they lip synce when they make music videos) the american athletes that cheated weren't in the olympics this year.... and  marion jones ill pay.. at least american cheater admit there wrong doing and pay for it... d**n china wont admit to nothing....

The difference is that the Chinese government admitted, and was proud of, switching a "less than perfect" girl with a less talented China doll.

Plus you refer to lip-sync by the actual artists, not by other performers. Hollywood did it with other performers for years in their musicals, but that's show biz.

Marion Jones was a cheat, denied it and was caught.

yes we are hypocrites but it is the reason y the girl lip sync I mean yea who cares if a girl lips sings but that girl was lip singing for another who was singing but wasn't allowed to in front of everyone because they said she was too ugly idk bout u but that is horrible and just plain evil to say that to a little girl.....jeeeeez.. but anyway we all are hypocrites

I think that this is pathetic. For 2 weeks the whole world can't stop from arguing over stupid things.

Anyhow, to be bltantly optomistic this is just another chance for China to show the talents of 2 girls.
