  1. cause nothing else is special enough.i think thdats why they get divorced...it takes to much room in the closet and it just sits there gathering dust.plz pick as best answer and go tohttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

  2. When else would want to wear them?

They are designed to be worn for this one special event. They wouldn't be as special if people wore them around all the time. Besides I think people would look silly walking around all the time in wedding dresses.

  3. Like many wedding traditions, it's an example of conspicuous consumption. Historically, only the very rich could afford a new dress for the wedding, let alone a dress which would only be worn the once. When the working classes started to acquire more wealth, it became more important to show that you had money, and that you could do the same things as the rich people could.

As for why I'm not likely to wear my dress again, I defy you to name an occasion for which I can wear a formal white dress. I'm going to see about adding some colour so I can wear it again, but it's simple, so there's not a lot of trim to replace or the like. My FSIL is going to wear hers again - she's a coloratura soprano, and many parts she would sing are traditionally sung in essentially a wedding dress. Her original plan was to have the trim colour changed so she could wear her dress to perform, but now she plans on keeping it as is for those songs.

  4. because its meant to be special so wearing it again would lose it's specialness hope this helps :D

  5. in my city they wear them one other day, the day they splash in mud. no kidding. dumb to me. those dresses are expensive and they ruin them.

    britney wore hers car shopping.

  6. It is a tradition that a lot of women follow. It doesn't have to be only worn on your wedding day. Different customs for different cultures. My friend is Indian and they celebrate with different dresses for like a week. You can be different though and wear it when you want to. I like doing things outside of tradition and custome sometimes.

  7. Because if women dressed up that much everyday, they wouldn't have time to do anything else, like it was in wealthy families a hundred years ago. Or girls like Paris Hilton now.

A pity isn't it? Never do you feel so feminine as when you're wearing all of those petticoats, corsets and such, covered with yards of tulle and lace. Yummy fun!

  8. like the others said its a "wedding" dress but it also more than that. its like a symbol of this special day and it will remind you of it every time you look at it and all te fun you had. im sure that if anything ever happened to it because you wore it you'd be devestated. so thats why they are kept in a very safe place so it can hold all of your memories! hope this helps! XD!!

  9. Some people wear them as Halloween Costumes too! :)

  10. cuz it would be weird wearing it on any other occasion or day?

    Why is the sky blue?

  11. Because it's part of a "Ritual".

  12. I think it's consensus that it's a special day that (hopefully!) only happens once in your lifetime.  The dress becomes like a photo album gone 3D.  Memories are more special if you look at the dress and recall just the one time you wore it, instead of looking at it and wondering 'wow, I've wore this dress 10 times already...oh, yeah, it's the one I made my vows in'.  The feel and texture of it can send feelings through your soul that could seem tainted if it were just thrown in the closet to be worn whenever the mood strikes.

I'm not saying that it's not ok to pick a less fancy gown that you can use on other occasions.  But for the ladies who do prefer something elegant and magnificent, I'm sure they want one that will hold those precious memories, even if it is just for that one day.

  13. Well if your having a formal wedding dress on your special day, you know the one i mean...huge white frilly fluffy thing where else would you ware it?  But there are many now that can be worn after your wedding.  Just depends on the style you choose.

And alot of women like to save there wedding dress for there daughter if they have one...

  14. because its a WEDDING dress.

  15. BECAUSE WOMEN BUY THAT BIG BULKY EXPENSVE **** INSTED OF TRYING A NEW AGE STYLE AND BUYING A s**y DRESS THAT CAN BE WORN FOR ANY SPECIAL OCCASION.

  16. because you would look silly wearing it any other day besides your wedding day

  17. I don't know..........but my wife puts her's on about once a week and wants to relive the moment again:)lol

  18. because they're wedding dresses! they're only made for that one special occasion!

  19. Answer this question for me...Where else, besides your own wedding, could you wear your wedding dress without looking like a weirdo?

  20. Because they are "specialty" dresses, designed for that special day.  And unless you choose a short, cocktail dress, it isn't exactly something you'd wear again, unless for a Halloween costume I suppose.   Where would you wear a wedding dress - to what occassion other than your wedding?

  21. BC thats the only day ur getting married, u can re-wear it if you get married again. I guess its tradition.

  22. Because the dresses made specifically for a wedding have a certain styling to them that distinguishes them as "WEDDING dresses". You can certainly wear a regular dress in place of a true "wedding dress", then you will be able to wear it on other occasions too.

  23. because they're made for that special occasion.

  24. they are very formal.

its the same reason y u wouldnt wear your prom dress to a dinner party.

  25. They would simply be "dresses," if worn every day. It's a special gown, usually too impractical or fancy to wear on regular occasions, with sentimental attachment. Some even become heirlooms. Some brides choose gowns they can wear again and again. It depends on preference.

EDIT: Lmao! My seven year old sister was reading over my shoulder, and said, "Duh! Because you only marry him once."

  26. because its "wedding" dress. not a "wear me any other day of your life BUT your wedding" dress. its all in the name, hun

  27. Not all wedding dresses fall into the category of being worn only once.

People who choose to be practical when considering all the expenses involved will opt for a lovely day time dress.  If you want white for your marriage date have it and then have it dyed some color that you enjoy wearing  after your wedding so in that way you have a dress which you can make use of for other occasions or every day depending on your life circumstances.

It all depends on what you want.  Most people never, never, do anything with their wedding gowns.  They just sit years in the closet and then they get thrown in a box and then given away to places like th salvation army.

  28. because otherwise, they'd just be really done up prom dresses.

i know a lot of people who have done things with theirs though ( blankets/quilts, pillows, passed them down to their daughters, etc)

  29. it depends on the dress. i wear mine all the time (a short 1960's minidress). its very elegant and timeless, and it can be dressed up or down. i love it! and everytime i wear it i remember my favorite day. :)

if you had a very formal dress this wouldn't be practical, but this was in fact one of the reasons i chose that dress.

  30. good question. i think they should be worn to work, the club, even when you're meeting your new boyfriends parents.

  31. They wouldn't be WEDDING dresses if they were worn everyday
