Why are welfare receipients allowed to buy slurpees with the welfare charge card?

I think its a crock of shizzle that I have to pay taxes so that people on welfare who can drive nicer vehicles but buy slurpees with food stamps. I wanted to snap on her. I bet shes voting Obama.

Just the other day I was in line at my local grocery right behind a colored couple they had two carts full of food and were cashing out but when the cashier told them she could not put a bag of dog food on her food stamp card she told her husband to go back and get 10 lbs. of hamburger for the dog..When I paid for my food and left the store they were loading their food into a new cadi. that still had purchase papers on the window..............Isn't welfare great I drive a 5 year old car and pay for my food with what money I have left after my taxes are stolen to pay for trash to sit home and breed more kids for higher welfare checks.....

That is minor compared to the waste that happens when food stamps are used to buy Strip steaks and seafood.  On several trips to the market I noticed food stamps being used to buy Lobster and Delmonico steaks while I had to settle for hamburger and fake crab meat. Someone in the entitlement world should train people on how to buy reasonable food and have food for the month instead of the first two weeks. Children suffer because parents waste money on themselves then feed the kids cheap stuff for most of the month. I favor returning to the old system where food is given instead of credit cards.  That way children get milk, cereal and other things instead of freeze pops and pizza.

Why are Corporations allowed to buy outrageous things like ice sculptures that pee vodka, etc. with their employees pension funds and then get away with it because "Kenny-boy" is a friend of the President? What about CORPORATE WELFARE? The US government gave away 92 BILLION of our tax dollars in 2006 alone!! Why aren't you complaining about that? Because it helps the rich get RICHER. Whatever happened to the "free market"? In a "Free" market a business will succeed or fail on it's OWN and doesn't need to be propped up on the backs of the US taxpayers. But I'm sure you have NO problem with THAT type of welfare.

Well, at least in NYS you can only own a car of a certain value to receive welfare benefits and it's a rather low value.  

Also, those on welfare traditionally are some of the more disenfranchised voters.

I agree that there should be reform in the type of food one can buy while on food stamps and WIC.

They have under the table jobs and are still on welfare, thats how they afford nice cars and other things. Then be on welfare to get food and other necessaties. The government wants to keep Americans fat and lazy, so that they can easily be manipulated. Its hard to fight back when you've had 3 triple by-passes, and still have one clogged artery now.

i think we need to go back to the government cheese days.maybe only allow the ebt card to purchase nothing but staples.no junk food ,no prepared items.meat,pasta,grains,flour,vegtabeles... it! at the very least a certain segment of our society might lose the fat butts they have become so proud of.

I personally can't stand to see most people use food stamps because most of the ones I've seen abuse the system.   I know someone whose relative got $700 a month in food stamps ( she has 8 kids) and sold most of them to people for half price.  Since she now has a debit type care, she will go to the store with the person, buy the groceries and then give them to them once they get out of the store.

As far as the welfare crook voting for Obama, that type of person probably doesn't actually vote for anyone.  Also, how can you assume just because someone votes for Obama, they are moochers.  That's mighty high and mighty of you.  I guess if you are voting for McCain then you are an ultra wealthy ,warmonger ,looking for a huge tax break!  Doesn't sound like you does it ? Or are you as McCain's  advisor described the average American- a whiner ?

What is it that make people think that poverty isn't punishment enough?

You can't get on welfare unless you meet a means test,

that means you can't have more than a certain amount in assets, here its less than $1500, if your ride is worth less than than that and you begrudge someone a Slurpee in summer, you aren't paying all that much in taxes to worry about it.

It's positively insane that a person should be buying a dadburn slurpee when it's burning hot outside instead of a bottle of water. But wait, a bottle of water cost more doesn't it? My what a crock, to think that a poor person should want to cool off with a slurpee she can purchase with a food stamp debit card. How awful! Probably the car wasn't hers or possibly she was using it at work.  You cant have an expensive car and be on welfare or foodstamps.

And unfortunately they can buy anything with that money.  I know it sucks, but its true
