Question:

Why are white babies in such high demand?

I had a friend who was trying to give her mulatto baby up for adoption (she was white and the baby's daddy was black). Nobody wanted it......she had a h**l of a time finding a family who would take it. However, another friend of mine had a healthy white baby and there were people who were willing to pay large amounts of money to adopt it. I've noticed this trend of white babies being hard to get, while babies of color are much easier to come by. Why is this?

  1. i guess more white couples adopt and want some one who will look like them

  2. I would guess that white babies are in such demand because when many white people adopt they want a white baby that will "match" them.

  3. alot of the time it's the adoptive parents wanting a child that won;t easily be reconised as not their own just to give the child a better start in life without awkward questions from their peers

  4. They don't seem to be in the Celebrity world

  5. I would guess that its mostly white couples adopting babies and naturally they want one that looks like them.

  6. Because the world is full of racists and bigots!

  7. I've never known a couple who wanted to adopt who was that picky about skin color or ethnic heritage. (I know couples who have adopted black, asian and mixed race babies.)   Maybe you live in the deep south where color issues are still a bigger deal?

  8. its sad but true

the reason may be because couples looking to adopt tend to be upper middle class to high class white couples and they want to adopt BUT they also dont want people looking at them on the street KNOWING that the kid isnt really theirs. they want the kid to blend in with the family AND their social group.

  9. Aww that's sad that she had such a hard time finding an adopter! My guess is because it is mostly white families who are adopting the babies and they want someone who will 'fit in" with their look so that they don't have culture clashes.

However, my family we adopted a cute little african american boy and he's a doll and we love him.  I'm glad she was able to find someone to adopt her little one.

  10. I have 11 adopted grand children Two are black and one has a white mother and black father and looks black. We happen to be white and race doesn't matter to us. If more black families were willing to adopt, perhaps the situation would be different.

  11. that is a very good question

i know of alot of colored parents that want white children

    like my stepmom

she is philippina and she wants her children to be white not dark like her at all

    she loves white skin

    so idk

its just ppls preference now i guess idk

  12. because most of the US is white so the parents want a baby that would fit into there white family. people do not want it to be obvious that the kid is not theres.

  13. Supply and Demand...it's that simple...there are alot less white babies that go up for adoption than any other race and/or color.

  14. Because CELEBRITIES like Angela Joli keep on going out of their WAY to adopt Black Brown and Yellow babies because WHITE isn't EXOTIC enough for THEM...........that is the same reason OTHER people want WHITE babies...

And because many white babies that are born out of wedlock by TEEN AGE mothers have someone in the FAMILY who can take them in as well., It is socio- economic. Much more babies of Color that are put up for adoption.

Also there are statistically MORE WHITE couples who ADOPT babies and want it to look more like the baby is THEIR OWN.........

  15. Hmm.  I find that hard to believe.  That no one wanted that baby.  I believe ALL babies under the age of 12 months are generally sought after.  Did the mom or dad have any drug or alcohol problems?  All that info has to be given to the adopting paretns and many people are not willing to take a baby that may have developmental problems due to drug/alcohol abuse during pregnancy.
