Why are wishes suppose to be kept to yourself?

if you make a wish, you can't tell anyone or else it won't come true.

probably someone made a wish and didnt want to tell there friends so they made it up that if you tell it it wont come true and then there friends and so on.... and so on... thats what people thought

Because when you let things like that out in the open, it becomes a part of the collective consciousness. When that happens, all sorts of energy can effect it. The same goes for spells, you're not supposed to tell anyone what you have casted, until after it manifests.

I don't really know.

Maybe that if you tell someone, they might enquire about it later, and if you didn't get your wish (no matter how hard you worked towards it) you would just feel bad.

If you keep it to yourself, no one is there to remind you.
