  1. Maybe because women are human beings?

  2. More than half of the adult population = women.

  3. Because is mama ain't happy, then NOBODY'S happy.

  4. It has been proven that women are a civilizing influence.

Throughout history, as women were given more political power, all the trappings of civilization: arts, humanities, etiquette, philosophy, etc, in that society flourished, and hence all of society benefitted.

It's not that the women themselves always directly contributed, as men still were the ones involved in those fields.  But once women stopped being the equivalent of baby machines and house servants, society and intellectualism became more respected, bringing with it new ideas and a surge of civilization and progress.

Look at places like India.  As women have gained rights there, the concurrent progress society made was far in excess of the additional contributions made by these women, but the link is always there.  Simply by having women take a more active role in society, progress inevitably follows.

  5. In America it was to change all man is created equal. Originally it was an issue that would of been in the bill of rights, however not all of the states wanted that. Also There was going to be slavery outlawed by the bill of rights but they ended up doing a compromise.
