Why are woman (today) so scared of breast feeding? Isn't that what the breast is for?

They are afraid of being bitten. Or they think the baby will become adicted to the brest milk.

yeah i know, its ridiculous! it is so rare that i ever see a mother breastfeeding! For gods sake, they are just ****, and mothers should be proud that they are giving their kids the best start in life. If a mum is about to develop a cold, or get ill, her breatmilk contains a little bit of the virus which makes the baby immune to it. Bottled milk doesn't do that. Why would any mum not mind their baby becoming ill just because they are embarrased about breastfeeding? Breastfeeding isn't what makes your bobbies sag, its pregnancy that does that! The same hormones (progesterone i think) that soften your cervix also soften all your ligaments, which means that the ligaments suportimng your b*****s become treched as well. Its what women are made to do, and i dont understand why they dont!

Umm... I intend to breast feed after hearing all of the good things about it, but prior to actual research, I was against it. Most of them were shallow reasons, like I don't want saggy b*****s, I can't go out as often, I can't drink alcohol/ caffiene/ anything fun. But then I realized that after 9 months of not being able to do any of these things, that it really wouldn't be that bad to keep it up for a few months longer. Also, the fact that I'll have a kid and nothing else would matter in the long run.

So in my case, yes, I was stupid, I fully admit that.

I'm not entirely sure where you're getting your information from.  Reports show that breast feeding is, once again, on the increase.

breast is best, all my kids were fed from my breast, ok it pulled a little and at times hurt too but so what, i wanted to give my kids the best start in life

trust a man to ask a stupid question like this.let me see maybe,just maybe,its because haven't spent the last 9-10 months making a small human being inside of us coping with morning sickness,swollen ankles,getting up to wee three times a night because a six pound baby is lying on your bladder.after all that fun we go through labour(guessed why call it labour)to have the said small human come out and expect to clamp onto a nipple!stupid question,you try doing all that and having what sleep you get interrupted by something hanging of your breast??????you haven't lived much have you boyo.

No, that is not what b*****s are for.  A female does not require b*****s to produce milk.  Only nipples and milk ducts behind the skin are needed.  Women are the only non cloven hoofed mammal that have b*****s.  Pendulous great mammary glands are not required for milk production.

b*****s actually exist for our benefit so that when we see a pair we can have a look at them and maybe have a feel to see if it is worth copulating with their owner. If they are too baggy and saggy we can assume the female is too old or has already been used.   They are marketing tools.
