Question:

Why are women often prime victims for crime?

I was watching CNN & they were talking about how Eddie Pieron (UMiami student) was murdered on July 4th & they were interviewing his mother. The woman seemed stone cold sober at this point but then I wondered if they ever found Natalee Holloway & why women often tend to go missing or are found victims of homicide? Do you think men & women are equal victims of homicide or is it primarily consisting of women?

Thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

  1. http://www.unicef.org/sowc07/docs/sowc07...

If men are more victimized then maybe we need to ask the government why they felt it necessary to create the Violence Against Women Act   ,     Women's Suffrage Act,     and yes there are more of these

Women have always unwillingly suffered more than men

Men however have always started wars then fought in them or have done crazy stunts to prove their manhood

Men also like to mess with women they don't know, start fights with other men, or commit crimes like robbery which all can cause other men to kill them in defense

  2. Yes they are equal victimsboth men and women.

  3. The news gives more coverage to female victims, but men are much more likely to actually be victims.

Somewhere on that website is a page that says very explicitly that 79% of murder victims for the last year checked (2005 I think) were men.  That's nearly 4 times as many men murdered as women.

  4. These were the best stats I could find, even though they are old.

    * Between 1992 and 1994, the number of violent incidents involving a female victim averaged 4.6 million a year--nearly 14 million crimes during the 3-year period.

    * In 1995, women were about two-thirds as likely as men to be victims of violence; 20 years ago, they were half as likely.

    * In 1994 females represented 23% of all known homicide victims in the United States; 9 out of 10 female victims were murdered by males.

    * In 1992-93, women were more likely to be victims of nonfatal violence by someone they knew (78%) than by a stranger (23%). Male victims were about as likely to be victimized by a stranger (49%) as by someone they knew (51%).

    * For rape, robbery, and assault in 1992-93, female victims experienced 7 times as many incidents of violence by an intimate (present and former spouses, boyfriends, and girlfriends) as male victims. 12/96 NCJ 162602

  5. Men make up the vast majority of homicide victims.

Its something like 75-78% of homicide victims are male.

They are also afflicted by almost every other violent crime, excluding domestic violence and rape(even then, prison rape and the odd female-male rape still put men in there), and are much more likely to be targeted for identity theft and fraud.

So i'd have to say that its primarily consisting of men.

  6. the media often ignore's when males are victims of horrible crimes. When a little girl goes missing how long is it on the news? If a little boy goes missing does it even make it into a foot note on the sunday paper?

Google the smiley face killings. If it where female instead of male victims it would be the story of the century. But because feminists and liberal's like it when males are whole sale slaughtered they try to cover it up.

  7. This question depends on the crimes you are referring to. In regards to violent crimes, male casualties far out number female casualties.

  8. Often men who are unconfident in their physical strength will look for weaker targets, and women despite being in a post femininist society, are still seen as needing protection e.g. Women and Children first, which means as a society we see women as more vunerable than men and as such both men tend to pick women rather thna men to attack in cases of random violence.

If you were had to mug someone would you rather it were a man or a woman, in the interest of your own safety.

That being said, as part of the same perception the media often reports cries against women more thna crimes against men, so it's a two way street.

  9. I've never known women to be the prime victims for crime in general... ever. Do you mean rape only? One or two cnn news case doesn't mean much.

Sorry but its far more dangerous for me to walk down the street than you. Men are victims of crime far more than woman.

Its the stereotype that may have you confused. Men aren't victims.

I'm going back to work on my Superman outfit.

  10. regardless of how much the news may be biased, I have to believe that males are the perpetrators in almost all cases.  I think this is partly because women carry and nurture a child in the womb, give birth, raise the child(ren) to adulthood.  Men on the other hand, are more the hunters - the killers (by nature).  women can't even kill a bug but boys will pull wings off of flies just because they can.  This isn't to judge - this is just to acknowledge and make a distinction inherent between the genders.  One nurtures - the other slaughters.  Hunters/gatherers.

  11. Most people who commit heinous crimes such as Kidnapping, rape, and etc, are cowards who lack any physical strength whats so ever.

Rarely do you ever hear about a man doing the same acts to another man who is over the age of 18, in those cases, the person is just crazy.

So your answer would be, is because most people who commit violent crimes are actually weak cowards who prey on those that are clearly weaker than them. Therefore a lot of these people prey on women and children.

  12. No, not at all.

Both genders are just as susceptible to crime, there's no exceptions. I think it's just the media mostly.

There tends to be more coverage on females as oppose to males which may appear that women are often the prime target.

  13. CNN and Fox news go hand in hand; those media moguls are paid to present false representations and connections to condition and ultimately establish a response (which is usually fear and bigotry.)

They try to create automatic stimulus response (which is usually directed toward Black people, Muslims, men and women combined.)

You can never get the complete facts from these media outlets; they don't want you to know the whole truth.

Besides; it's not a competition between men and women to see who is more likely to get murdered; it’s bad enough that anyone gets murdered. Let alone what it does to the victims family and friends.

  14. The media people will ry every trick in the book to make women look like thire victimized. They do this because they know that they are the ones who basically says wether a relationship starts or ends. In relationships women have been tought that men just want s*x. This negates them from wanting it. Same as the womens libbers, oh poor old me. woah is me. They then get harder faced in relationships. This keeps people scrabblig around like chickens instead of soaring like the eagle.  They want people miserable thats why most are. They want peo;le broke (financially) thats why most are and they want people broke spiritually thats why most are. In gods name they perform all sorts of c**p and out authorities are to blame for it. They say how much you get and they say how much you have to get rid of during the week in order for you to need them and their lousy jobs the following week. Its called reliance. Man is an evil creature, not good as they boast. Look at ebay, people are selling stuff/c**p to try to get money together for food etc, and ebay judge us on wether or not we donate some to charity. They have the money let them pay instead of people in general sufering because of them In their view. Sod the africans etc. Let em starve. How do i know this. Because they are starving. There isnt an excuse but the africans etc serve their purpose. when you complain they can say " think yourslef lucky, look at the africans" etc etc etc. evil people. I never have voted and bever will. They could make it law to vote and i never will.
