Question:

Why are women so afraid to lift weights?

the gym that I go too, I seem to be one of the only girls who lifts weights, and tries to build muscle mass. Most of the women I see hop onto a treadmill or elliptical for 30 to 40 minutes and that's it. Does anyone else think that this may be one reason why women have a harder time losing weight. It just seems to me that women aren't as motivated to stay in the gym as long and break a sweat. Every time I go to the gym, I'm there for around an hour and a half, and I'm lifting weights the entire time. Can some people enlighten me as to why this may be?

  1. Some girls (or guys) just go to the gym for the sake of working out. Maybe they don't need to loose much, or anything.

    As for girls (or guys) that carry more weight, maybe their bodies have limits? 30 mins might be all they can handle for a while.

    Also, some people don't sweat much at all. Like myself. I can work out at Curves for an hour and sweat very little. And I work hard.

    It's just how people's bodies function...and their schedule, and motivation.  


  2. A lot of girls are probably afraid that lifting weights will make them bulky (in muscle), and a lot of people don't like that look

I just started pumping iron bars twice a week and suprisingly although there are many of us in the class,there are only 3 guys including myself!the other members are all women who look no different physically than an Eva Longoria or Carmen Electra!Progestrones and estrogens wont give women bulky muscles like men unless they eat too much of steroids and proteins together,so yeah,i understand how you feel...

  4. Cause they think that they will look like female body builders or have big arms which is not true. Women don't produce enough testosterone to produce big muscles and they don't eat enough to with stain them so they will just get toned not bulky so it is a myth. Well a combination of cardio and weights is the best and using weights in your routine helps you lose fat more then no weights and diet is important too.

  5. I supose alot of women go for more of a social thing. Like go woth a friend, do a bit of exercise, have a chat.

    Also i supose more men want to build muscle, whereas women tend to want to do cardio, and loose weight, rather than build muscle.

  6. they think that they will become bulky or tear any muscle or that weight lifting is only for men n MOSTLY they dunno how to workout and get in the right diet so their result is 0
