Question:

Why are women so controlling in the workplace?

I'm not even talking about managers. I'm talking about run-of-the-mill employees who want to take charge and throw their weight around, especially in female-dominated workplaces. Not a day goes by when my female coworkers don't exhibit their perpetual jealousy and insecurity.

  1. There are always people you won't get along with at work.  It's hardly a "woman" thing.

Actually, where I work, the person most like that is male.  Do I judge all men by that standard?  No, because I understand that men aren't all the same.

  2. if we werent in controll, men would be nowhere in this world

  3. cause of male oppression

  4. You seem to be on a company with many bosses and no leaders.

  5. becasue they must be having their menses.

  6. Because guys let them do it.

  7. Honey, you must be single if you are only seeing this in the workplace.   :)

  8. women micromanage and take things seriously and thats the way they get things done- with the minutest thing in the right place. They also analyse a person more than men do - it often may seem like jealousy to a man but it is just a womans assessment of the people around her and it may be harmless, not causing a major tsunami type of row in the office

  9. I worked in the female dominated field of nursing for over 7 years. I can affirm what you said. It was like a big slumber party on crack.

  10. Oh, good gravy I have no clue.  If you ever figure it out let me know.  For now I just give them blank stares and half hearted "uh huh" type answers.  I am not going to turn into them and make war, but I am not going to kiss their butts and let them control my career or even my day.

I work with some fantastic women (and men as well) who are very talented at what they do, are kind, ready to help and are appreciative of advice as well, which creates an amazing work place that is a joy to be at.  However it only takes a small amount of hot sauce to spoil the soup.

  11. Our workplace is in turmoil right now because of this very issue.  Most women just seem to have a big problem working with other women.

  12. How many places have you worked at? Based on your extensive experience in the workplace-your one place of employment-you're generalizing about all women in the workplace? Based on your two questions I believe you don't have a high opinion of women. Maybe it is you hon who has the problem with women-whether they are controlling or otherwise.

  13. well we are kind of made insecure because for such a long time and still in a lot of places things are male dominated so we are constantly having to prove our intellectual equality

  14. In the professional environments I have worked in I have not seen this sort of behavior nor have I ever exhibited such.

I have seen some women, and men, act unprofessionally and try to throw their weight around, I normally just shrug it off and work around the behavior. My goal is to get my job done, you want to command me and try to feel big that's on you, I could care less. But I don't think it is a gender issue, at least not in the places I've worked.
