Why are women so obsessed with bagging a man to marry them? With all the options in careers and education?

Question

why are women appearing so desperate as man chasers and over-analizing why men wont commit. This article reinforces the stereotype. It's insulting to women with degree's and careers at least here in the Northeast.

I'm not - my partner supports me and the babies at the moment, but that's because I'm off to college to do my A levels, then my degree. I'm lucky - because the male is already committed to me, but if we split I won't be desperate for a new one to keep me I'll be just fine on my own!

I think unfortunately, it's an age old stereotype that will never go away - many young women grew up in the kind of nuclear family where Dad worked, and Mum stayed at home, so to them it is the norm, and what htey expect from their own lives. I think it's even sadder when the women WITH the degrees and careers are still desperate to be 'looked after' though!!

Generalizing women in to this category only shows that you are ignorant, and obviously can't get a man.  I married for love and to raise a family.  I know plenty of women with degrees, (this is not possesive, as you've used it), that have abandoned their careers to stay home and raise their children, as I have.  

Perhaps if you had a husband and children to love you, you would understand their importance.

Because they want to settle down and have a family. They want to fall in love and have a romance and then a family and a settled down life. I don't personally understand why most women have lowered themselves as far as they have for it. I personally like a girl who will be honest, and won't be so easy to like make laugh. Girls these days at least most have very little dignity. And alot of them seem to be getting pregnant very young. Like the girl used to be the one that didn't want to do that stuff right off the bat, and now it's the other way around. The guy is thee one that had to pace things. That's giving us to much responsibility, we can't handle it. Sorry, you got me ranting, but yeah i think that is also not very cool. They should be focusing on their own lives, the person they are looking for will come along eventually.

Because women are usually taught from childhood to be caregivers, affectionate, and loving....while men are usually taught to be competitive, void of feelings, and tough.

Marriage is a partnership business deal. The business due todays laws is based on the emotions of the female only. Emotions is no way to run a business. Of course as long as the female can say no at any moment, this put her in full control of the partnership. Marriage should be between two people not three, Him, [her and the state]

The mind of a man is most biased by logic and reason; the mind of a woman is most biased by emotion and intuition. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. An example of this would be if a man and a woman came upon what looks like a rickety bridge; the man will visually inspect it and determine if it's safe to cross based on appearance, whereas the woman will decide whether or not to cross based on her intuition.

I believe it's harder for a woman to stay single because they like to feel the emotional security of someone they can trust and love. Most (not all) men worry more about their careers and living situations. I'm not saying that men don't care like women do, just not to the same degree, and vice versa for women.

That is why the stereotype has always been "Men go to work and take care of finances and women stay at home and care for her children", as depicted in Leave It To Beaver.
