  1. Several reasons

    1. The stadiums are shared between football and rugby, as you will notice as you can still see the football markings on the pitch. And when Scotland played France at football (and won) the football had priority

    2. Stadiums have to have a certain capacity, and only a few were deemed ok to use in France so they used other venues

    3. Local rugby clubs also need to use the pitches

  2. so england can be crushed at home of it s two last colonies.

    france will crush england

    allez les bleus

  3. because france is full of french people.

    and we all hate them

  4. The International Rugby Board votes on who hosts the World Cup. When France bid to host the WC, they offered Scotland and Wales some matches in order to secure their votes. Ireland also had the offer but turned it down.

  5. Voting.............the home northern hemisphere teams voted for France in return for games being played at their countries!

England did not vote for France!

WELSHCHICK, the English was up for the bid, but they f*cked up in 1991 so were not offered to hold a venue!

  6. Yeah - vote buying.

It's turned out quite comical - France basically said vote for us Wales and we will give you quarter final two at your nice new stadium.

So looks like France will play New Zealand in Wales for the second quarter final - insane !

    Great stadium but.

  7. Your question is 2 words too long

  8. Gud question bro! seems most of the answers above are pretty well spot on. unfortunately NZ blew it in 2003 wen they were 2 co host wif australia. however NZ will host da 2011 event on there own. however they did not secure the rights to this all by themselves - in fact it had 2 go 2 a second round. it seems countries do 'share' the games. the very first tournament in 1987 was co hosted between NZ & Australia with the final in Auckland. similar tournaments have also happened. Apart from the 2003 tournament only one other country has hosted the entire cup and that is South Africa. Come 2011 and NZ will be the 3rd nation 2 do so.

  9. i was wondering exactly the same question. Perhaps it is part of European integration and Wales is now part of France

  10. The same thing happened in 1991 and 1999 when England hosted it,not all the games were played in the host countries stadiums, though the host nation has the final.

I presume its something to do with the size and resulting revenue that can be made from using the large stadiums available in the old 5 nations, plus the home advantage that comes with playing on your own turf given the chance!

  11. it is common practise in any world event, to offer the neighbouring countries to host games in favour of votes to the bidding country!  Wales, Scotland and Ireland was offered this from France, the reason Ireland declined, is because they are having re-construction work done at lansdown road!
