Why are yahoo points important? wat do they do? or are used for?

these points are to help the yahoo communities for better search.

so if i typed in how do i get better at.. lets say fishing?

i typed it and all the answers  was rated one star? do i really want to use yahoo if it was that bad.

someone asked a question on running

then you answers because its good for you and that it helps your running and get fit the asker give you point and another person wanted to know the same why is running good so she looks at your answer and its rated 5 star it be easy to look then to type it again and wait for answers.

Points are not really good for anything expect going to the next level.  You do not win any prizes, vacations, etc…  You just get a lot of good info.

Answering questions=2pts

Best answer=10pts

Visiting YQA each day=1pt

Choosing your own Best answer=3pts

Voting on undecided question =1pt

For each thumbs up on BA = 1 pt up to 50 pts.

Points on this web site are an indication of the experience of the person answering the question. A percentage is displayed showing answers voted best divided by total answers. The higher the percentage the more trustworthy the answer. As you accumulate points you move to higher levels. The level allows you to do more on the site such as being allowed to answer more questions per day. There are no prizes for points. Yahoo may decide from time to time to give gifts based on level but there is no guarantee. Gifts were given the the first anniversary and there have been free light bulbs and shopping bags. Watch the ads. It is not automatic. The challenge to to reach level 7 and beyond. To see the method of gaining points and what each level allows just click on your points or level.

Yahoo gave me a really crappy green mug when I hit Level 6. Useless for drinking, so I use it to clean brushes.
