Ever heard of MERCURY poisoning? I cant even eat fish out of Lake Michigan because of mercury contamination. Now you want to allow even more mercury into our ground water?

All because of the global warming fallacy? How is mercury good for the environment? I will love to hear this.

  1. finally a voice of reason, is brain damage worth solving global warming myth

  2. You don't understand. Facts do not matter to the enviro nuts. If it were up to them we would all go back to living in caves, without fire. Fire makes smoke and that causes global warming.

Sky - Perfect example of what can happen when you get too much mercury into your system. 40000 years ago the ice age was in full swing and the ice cap reached all the way south to New York City.

  3. I'm a global warming advocate, and I partially agree with you. its sort of like...picking something good for one part of the environment and ignoring its side effects.

  4. Ummmm, what does the new light bulbs have to with mercury in your ground water?  They aren't any different than having mercury inside a thermometer.  I think you were just asking this question to be a jerk.  Once they are installed, they last a h**l of a lot longer than conventional light bulbs, hence the reduced risk of breaking them.  Plus, less electricity costs, but I guess you don't care about saving any money.......

  5. Both have their pros and cons for the enviorment.  But the new lightbulbs will save you money.

  6. Because Liberals are friggin idiots and have no common sense.  Check out proudconserative.com  It's the best web site ever, and explains 99.99% of the liberals stupid reasoning.

  7. I tried using them but have noticed that they burn out in a very short time and are so very expensive. So back to the much cheaper old fashion reliable American made bulbs that at least last a few years.........

  8. People are looking at global warming and trying to come up with a way to solve it.  On the surface the lightbulb sounds like an easy move in the right direction because it makes a small difference and shouldn't affect our lifestyles.  And business are using them more and more for cost- saving reasons.  Ultimately, though, we have to look at the big picture, and either have to go nuclear or go bust.

  9. Yes, this is typical problem solving by people who do not know what they are doing.

People who do not understand the problem create a so called "solution whch creates far worse problems.

this also occurred with the introduction of MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether to gasoline. MTBE was a required "Oxygenate" aded to gasoline to reduce air pollution.

However MTBE is highly toxic and soluble in water.

When gasoline leaked and was spilled into water, the MTBE dissolved out of gasoline and polluted all of the water.

Gasoline by itself does not dissolve in water and floats on the top of the water and can be skimmed off.

It took years of work to eliminate the government requirements for MTBE in gasoline even though a less toxic alternative oxygenate was available.

When government mandates a so called solution, the government employees and Polititians who make the mandate do not know what they are doing. Once the government mandate is put in place it is very difficult and often takes years to correct the mistake.

  10. I know you have to call hazmat if you break one, those new bulbs suck...oh wait, uh i guess mercury is good for you...now I can finally take a bath in it like I always wanted...how can it be bad for you? it's so shiney!

  11. Well, at least in the case of mercury, I think the activists were  right in trying to get it out of the environment.  Mercury is very bad.

So why anyone would want it in their home, in vapor form, is beyond me.

Sounds like the formaldehyde foam insulation boondoogle years ago that made homes unsellable.

  12. links for liberals too stupid to run a yahoo search 1>http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=4112...  2>http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?f...  3>http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx... .as for saving money ...here on cape cod we have the nations highest electrical rates.the cost of the new bulb+ the cost of hazardous recycling[off cape shipping included]=twice what you save for electric.libs also fail to concider the moron factor.people who deny the mercury in the bulbs as we see liberals here doing will improperly dispose of the bulbs poisoning our ground water.

we have 100% recycleing here.yet the same libs who "save the world" with their use of the new bulbs are too lazy to hold them for the annual household toxic waste drive.instead they throw them into the glass recycleables bin.so your next bottle of wine may be in a murcury tainted bottle.ENJOY

  13. Because as much foresight was put into this as there was into what Ethanol production would do to food prices.

    Knee jerk......but it sounded good.......

  14. Yep! If one of those bulbs breaks, it is call "hazmat" time!

  15. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll investigate a little bit before I buy them.

  16. I cant see their answer either(and I cant even begin to understand their thinking),global warming is a hoax, but i love your avatar.(ps theyll hit you with LED lights are safe...But very expensive)

  17. People prefer them because they are low energy use.  Even if you don't care about saving energy, most of us care about saving money.

You haven't produced any information backing your suggestion that the bulbs contain mercury.  Hello?
