up until 7th grade, i had the absolute best teachers EVERR! you could tell that all those teachers truely cared about their students. now, in 7th and 8th grade, i have had the absolute worst teachers! my mom (who teachs in my district) even says this...and many other teachers she knows agree. also, so many parents complain. teachers are just plain rude to us as students, and really mean. they make unnecessay comments and actually BULLY students! they SAY "i don't care about you guys...i can't help...i'm too busy!" what is this!? we are asking for help..your the teacher! GIVE IT TO US!

so here's my question: why become a teacher if you don't like kids? i just don't get it. you make us feel so sad and like down on ourselves, why can't middle school & high school teachers be positive and encouraging to students?

  1. teachers are always going to say it's the kids fault, what teacher is going to admit they are bad??

But I agree with you 100%

  2. So, you think just because kids are in accelerated classes they are somehow angels?  Did it ever occur to you that teachers are humans too, and sometimes we get tired of smart mouthed little twerps complaining about all the work these 'mean teachers' give them?  Teenagers are a tough lot to deal with.  Teachers do love their kids...but not everyone teaches with the same style.  Believe me hon, people don't stay in the teaching profession for the money.  It's simply not there.  It's a profession of love only.

Edit...I'm sorry you feel that way.  Your teacher might have a point, tho.  If a person in your class is just kind of lazy and doesn't ever turn in their work on time or finish their work, they don't need help for understanding, they just need to get off their duff and get busy.  I have a girl in my class like that...she gets very easily distracted and takes forever to get things done.  Some of my higher students always want to help her, but they don't get that she isn't having a problem with understanding, just with doing, and that she DOES need to get it done by herself.  BTW, Im a teacher and very well loved, thank you very much.  I have lots of critters in my classroom and teach Science.  I have a great relationship with my students...but not everyone teaches the same way.  Teachers are not cut out of a cookie cutter mold.  Just because you have one teacher that teaches the way you like doesn't mean the others are unqualified.  Teachers have different teaching styles, just like they have different personalities.  Some teachers are hard knocks teachers, some are more loving and helpful.  And that's how it is in the real world...you will encounter people of differing personalities and you need to learn to deal with and get along with all of them, whether you like them or not.

  3. Kids just don't suck.  I love your age group--you get my jokes.  But here's the thing.  Listen and don't just turn away if you disagree.

Your hormones (I know I know you are sick of that) s***w you up...meaning that sometimes you react differently or get mad or challenge or get a little verbal.  Hey I had a really mad kind of adolescence--I still remember it---always mad a my mom for no reason and stuff...Wish I could apologize for that.  But I digress.

You sound like a smart kid.  Teachers aren't mean..the are really over worked, and can I say///look at your weird classmates who constantly challenge them.  Very tiring and makes a person irritable.

Be kind and if you are as mature as you sound you will get this.  Be patient and try to offer to help them...much appreciated from the more mature students. Have a great day tomorrow huh?

  4. I'm not mean thank you very much.  Ask my students.

As for everyone else....I'm with ya.  Why are they even in the teaching profession if they don't like kids?

BTW, proofread and use the correct form of "your"/"you're".  Thanks!

  5. Because i'm pimpin all over the world!!!! PLAYA!! No its because i had a tough up bringing.

  6. I am sorry that you are going though this. The big problem is many good teachers are leaving teaching. They are being replaced by content teachers. These are teachers that know their subject but they do not know how to reach or teach kids. This year we had three principals at our school. This was really hard on the staff and students. It did effect the classroom. Just make sure you do what you have to do, and hand pick your teachers so you have the best.

  7. I will write as a teacher because I am one. Many teachers dont like middle school because its that transitory phase of kids as they are the oldest in the school and think they are all that, and then its off to high school and freedom. Their hormones are shooting all over the place, and so is the i want to be independent and be an adult but I am only 12 or 13 phase that is so annoying. This being said, I have emailed and encouraged students, given them candy from another country, spent time with them, dealt with teenage crushes (on me as a teacher!), and made them feel valued and treated them like little humans over little rodents. I have even said that some things are my mistake, apoligized to some kids, and said, I value your opinion ____ and I will certainly take what you have said into consideration, even if I don't. I do my level best to protect self-esteem, egos, and all that as well.
