I'm curious to know the reason/s behind what this site so attractive to some people. Please explain your addiction as much as you can, as I'm having a look at the psychology of the website. I'd like to have as many people answer this as possible, so could you please recommend it to your friends if you think it's interesting.

Any answers welcome though! Thanks

  1. I dig it!

It is a form of communication.

People are more inclined to really tell you what they think and how they feel.

    What about youse?

  2. I actually genuinely like the fact that I can help someone with my personal experiences. I don't answer to everyone, because I can't relate to all the questions and some questions are either too difficult to solve on here and well...sometimes I can't really understand what some people are talking about. I wouldn't say that this has become an addiction for me, but I like the idea that there are people out there in real time asking these questions. And as I answer some of these questions, I start to realize that there are other people who are going through difficult things and that we all have a lot in common.

And as the first person to post said, the idea of the points is attractive to some extent. But I didn't start doing this for that. Actually, I ended up on this site accidentally or randomly. But now I'm hooked I guess.

  3. no effort gets a little reward, a big effort gets a big reward. but its easier to put no effort an get a reward, even if its little ♥ an as long as u keep gettin the reward, u keep comming back

    example:

    cupcake:no effort, small reward

    being healthy:big effort, big reward

  4. Hi!

I wouldn't say i am addicted to Yahoo! Answers, but i enjoy the competition of earning points, and i feel good knowing that i've helped somebody out by answering their question.

  5. It is a network of knowledge and helping others live their lives the way they are meant to be lived

  6. I like to ask stupid questions and see what people will respond to them.   I find it amusing and I find it to be like an experiment.

  7. It is not so much an addiction, as it is an outlet.

I am in home so I do not get to be out and about in the real world, so I spend time with all of you so I am not completely shut off from people.

  8. I can say whatever I like without any inhibitions....well...a lot of than in real life. Because as the eldest child in the family, I have a knack for giving advice and have stepped on some toes because the advice was not sort. Here, somebody asked for it and while others may not appreciate what I gotta say, they'll hear it all the same. I also have found out that most people are going through the same issues in life so its a quick way to get answers that you'd have heard to pay somebody to give them to you.

  9. I am always curious about people. Like the saying "a penny for your thoughts" but I don't have to give people a penny :)

Plus the more questions and comments I read on the psych section the more I feel not so odd cause the majority of questions asked on here I've felt or wondered about at some point in my life.

Am I addicted? I don't think so cause it hasn't caused me harm nor has it affected my life in a negative way.

The psychology of the website...hmmm. Once you write your thesis share your findings. Does this site really connect us as humans? Is the anonymity liberating so one is more honest or does the anonymity make it easier for people to lie? ;P

I have faith that humans are ultimately good but I trust no one. Haha.

Ok I trust once trust worthiness is shown.

  10. i ask questions and look for questions on here so i dont look stupid in public. and i like earning points =)

  11. My friends wouldn't find it interesting.  I just like the idea of accumulating the points.

  12. I think it's a great source of knowledge, a place to share opinions with people all over the world from different cultures.

It can be the best forum in the world where anyone can ask about anything.

  13. I honestly think it's because we can ask questions we normally would'nt to someones face. We like the fact that we won't get any weird looks or reactions to embarrasing questions or answers. Also, nobody really knows who we are so we can answer truthfully.

  14. Because you can get real opinions and answers, not those backhanded lies that you get when you ask some friends for advice.
