For example, why is it not a good idea to put 2 Energizer AA batteries with 2 AA Duracell batteries in a GPS.

  1. I think the companies just say that so you will keep buying their brand of batteries.  As long as you don't mix new and old there should be no problems.

  2. hmmm .

    i never heard that before?

  3. The only thing I've ever heard is that one might put more pressure on the springs than the other.  I think it was Duracell.  So, if you use Duracell, you should stick with Duracell, but if you use Energizer, it's okay to switch to Duracell.  Or is it the other way around?

Actually, it probably doesn't matter at all.  Just some marketing hype.  I mean, I would think that 1.5 volts is 1.5 volts and the difference in pressure shouldn't affect things.  Or, would it?  You know, when you're spending so much money on batteries, a little difference might matter.  Or, does it?

  4. im guessing because there different powers? lol

    just a guess

im quiet intrested into why too

    lol

  5. because the companies who make them don t want you to buy the competition seriously tho i think that s the only reason I have mixed batteries my whole life never had a problem

  6. You can mix brands that use the same type of battery such as Energizer and Duracell alkaline batteries.  What you cannot mix is different types of batteries such as an alkaline battery mixed with a lead carbon battery.  It is because the internal resistances of the batteries are different and one battery can drive sufficient current through the other (under load) such that it is heated sufficiently to burst or worse.  Not a good practice.

  7. i honestly didn't know that

but i guessing depending on what 2 batteries you use the device's power will be limit?

    /...i have no idea

  8. It could possibly cause the batteries to leak acid.

  9. I've never heard of that. I do it all the time.

  10. because they want you to use their own brand? no, what they mean i think they mean to not use different types like lithium-ion and copper tip batteries.

  11. because the energizer might be stronger than duracell and it will blow up

  12. Really?  I do it all the time...never had a problem.

  13. well, i have actually never heard this, but i'm kind of afraid to tell you to take my word for it. don't wanna hurt u.

  14. one will lose charge before the other and you may not know which
