Why are you not supposed to use the little squirly energy efficient bulbs on a timer circuit?

At least that is what is printed on all the packaging

  1. you're not supposed to use them on a dimmer.

    timer is, or should be, just like a switch, and is fine.

    the reason to not use them on a dimmer is that they need the full 120 volts all the time to work correctly.

    when there's less, they don't light.

    and they wear out faster.
