  1. I'm not obsessed with religion.

  2. You are the one caught up enough in religion to be disgusted by it.  Atheism doesn't disgust me.  Get over yourself.

  3. religion is what helps us. it helps those people that are in pain. all they need to do is pray, and God will give them a solution. everything in this world is a test to see our loyalty to God and how we deal with these questions like this and how we deal with hard situations. EVERYTHING happens for a reason. i'm a proud muslim. that's all i'm saying.

  4. eh im a atheist

  5. I am not religious, but I think the answer is that it gives them hope. Those in 3rd world countries cling to religious ideas for this very reason. If they'd stop pushing it on me i'd be fine to let them believe in any fairy tale they wish.

  6. I really think the possibilities make us ....................restless

  7. I am not obsessed with religion; I am obsessed with God. Religion has done very little for me, but God has given me life, and He is my life.

  8. I know for a fact that 100% of us are going to die.

    What happens after that?

There are many ideas--most of them dealing with the immortal soul.

    Atheists believe nothing happens.

Your playing with eternity here--the time on earth is nothing, compared to eternity.  I might die quickly, or might die in some long drawn out painful way, or I might die like Jesus did.  In either case, what's going on here is over, and the chasm of eternity is in front of me.  I could choose to believe there's no God, but that doesn't make him go away.  For the sake of my eternity, as well as others, I think I would want to make absolutely certain that I was right.

As far as people suffering goes--I have my job to do as God wants me to.  It's not in the middle of a war zone, nor in politics nor helping the poor in India.  it isn't glamorous, I'll never be famous and I'm always in the background.

This is where God wants me.

He wants me to teach--not just my kids and my students, but as many people as I can reach.

    Someone has to do it.

  9. "how can you be so sure that what you believe in is even true?"

    (that's called Faith)

"don't you know there are people who are suffering ( like war ) and starving out in the real world. I wonder if those poor people even think of religion."

(that's why people bother to pray in the first place.)

    "you people disgust me"

(Why? Can't we both have our seperate opinions and be able to get along?)

I'm not very religious, and I see your point... but I still value religion.

  10. They've had it since childhood. It won't go away - but what a waste of time...

  11. Anger much?

And what pray tell are you doing here, if it is such a bad place to be!

  12. Not obsessed with religion BUT I am a realist.

People have been starving to death for hundreds of years. You can take any headline about the subject and insert it anywhere in the last forty years or before that.

The US gives more aid to other countries then the rest of the entire world combined.

Btw, your ignorance to world issues disgust me.

Next time you see a mother in Ethiopia with eight or nine starving children, why don't you make a trip there and ask her why she keeps having children?

  13. We disguist you because we beleive in something that gives us hope and a meaning, I also go out and go on mission trips to help people that are underprevledged, what do you do to help them.

  14. life is nothing without faith and god, and religon<3

but i agree its SOO important but people really do go really far with it.

but still its always really really good to just have a little faith in you

  15. You are very ignorant to question people's beliefs.  What is your problem?

  16. Get on your own two knees and sincerely ask God if He is there and be willing to wait there until He answers you. I warn you though, that you better be willing to do exactly what He asks of you or it would have been better for you to never have asked. God knows you personally, so don't be surprised when in your mind you realize He answers your pray in a very specific way that you would understand and realize how well He knows you.

  17. You must have faith

  18. I'm not

  19. Well my church gets in the van and drives to washington to tell the senators and the reps to stop war and to feed the poor.

Its better with cameras and its works better in person,

We are building houses for the homeless feeding the menatlly ill as they come to coffee hour we have a basement full of kids of all faiths that have a safe place to play and do homwork after school that basement is filled with disabled kids who want to play like other kids.

We collect food for the food bank and collect money to fix the church we do it in schools are being built in africa at the fund raising concerts held in our social hall

We  speak up for those who have no voice.

WE WORK EVERYDAY TO CHANGE THE WORLD

that is what our religion is.

"True religion is helping widows and orphans and keeping onself free of the sins of the word" that is in the book of James in the bible

I AM POSITVE THAT IS TRUE

YOU want to see GOD join with people who do his work

What you choose to call him is not the point

BUT people who sit on there buts and point fingers disgust me

    but im not your Judge

    God still loves you.

  20. You can't be sure what you believe in is true.  People believe in their religion so strongly for answers.  It's all emotions.  People want to know why are they here, what is their purpose, what happens to them after death, and so much more.  They want something to believe in to feel better and answer their questions.

  21. I totally understand what you're thinking...

But a lot of the people who're suffering think about religion.

Religion has a lot to do with the afterlife, so it helps people get along in life.

If there's nothing after all this, what's the point in doing anything? What's the point in morals or kindness if, in the long run, it doesn't do anything for you?

When you're sad and you can't talk to your family, who could you talk to?

And there's no proof of any certain religion. That's why you believe in it. It's all about faith.

And I'm sorry if you feel that way.

  22. Boring.

EDIT: Apparently I didn't make myself clear the first time so I'll rephrase what I sad.

    Your rant/question is boring.

If you don't like to talk about religion, then don't come to the religion and spirituality section. It's that simple.

  23. Religious beliefs and traditions make people feel comfortable, its something they can always rely on. It's actually a pretty amazing phenomenon if you look at it sociologically.

  24. Those poor people do think of religion.

Haven't you ever gone driving through New York or New Orleans?

90% of the homeless people have signs that say LOVE GOD BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. You disgust me. And yeah Christians and other religions do the best they can to help those poor people. That's why we're religious. We listen to God. I'll pray for you and hope you realize what a big mistake you are making.
