  1. It's all about visibility!!! so others can see you!

  2. Safety. Let me ask you this.... If your in the tunnel, no one has their headlights on, and suddenly the tunnel lights go out......What do you think would happen?? Exactly, a major pileup. Now in rain, it helps you become more visible, when visibility is poor.

  3. You that you can see and see what is ahead of you.

  4. First of all it is the law to turn on your headlights. In order to be seen and have drivers aware that you are on the road with them. Secondly, some, but not all tunnels have blind spots, curves, and lighting which is sometimes not adequate enough for your car to be seen. Imagine driving a black car in a dark tunnel. Combine that with the effects of rain on either end of the tunnel as the water drains down into the tunnel and the spray it creates. It can lead to some visibility issues. Anyways hope this helps.

  5. Besides other answers, consider if another car was overtaking you on your left, and suddenly you needed to change lanes,,,headlights would make it easier to know where other vehicles are at...and also for YOU to be seen...

  6. So other people can see you.
