i understand it is what you are supposed to do, its just as much as something can come from the left after you look, so can something from the right, so it seems that you would just have to keep looking left, right, left, right, etc.

  1. because a car can come from out of no where sometimes and the time limit it takes you to look one way is very important, its always been like that even back in the early 70,s that was in the drivers hand book, its  a good idea because it assures your not pulling out in front of another car, good luck.

  2. because you would have to look left again.

  3. you can look right again if you want to depending on how confident you are on the road but since you drive always on the right lane and driver`s side is on the left, you should always be on guard to your left, mainly on crossings `coz the closest lane from your left side is the right lane of the road you`re crossing....................so you should look left first, then right and then left again just to make sure no car passes by as you proceed to do any maneuvers.

  4. I think it has something to do with the fact that you can look left, see that nobody is coming, and then look right and see that a whole line of cars is coming.  So you sit there waiting for that line of cars to end, so that you can move forward... but of course, if you don't look left again, someone could have come from that direction during the time you were looking right.  I don't know...it makes sense to me.

  5. Because the left side of the brain uses logic and acknowledges but the right side of the brain uses risk taking.

  6. Well you can do it the other way but to prevent any hazard you must have to check left, right and left again. It is just the procedure they made to keep you safe.

  7. Nobody say you can't look as often as you wish to ensure your safety--but in matters of fractions of a second--left right left is the recommended way to look for a car moving at some speed. Never think that phrase is the end all and be all of the way to check for oncoming traffic.

  8. We drive on the right side of the road. In countries where you drive on the left side, you do the reverse. And of course you look right again, just before you hit the gas, if you are smart.

  9. Maybe it is because most accidents come from the left.

  10. Because the left side traffic is closer to you, at least in America.  If you look left, right, left, right etc. it would never end until you head fell off.

  11. because in most countries, the traffic is coming from the left. in england, it comes from the right! so, watch out...
