Why are young people leaving New Zealand for Australia?

A massive amount of people leave New Zealand for a new life in Australia every year.

If you are one of them, what were your reasons for leaving?

  1. im an australian, but i have new zealand friends who have done that.

    i think its the same thing as country children leaving home for the bright lights - the city.

    new zealand is a lot smaller than australia, and its capital city is probably equivalent to one of australias smallest cities.

    australia, a bigger country, inevitably has more opportunities for young people. australia also has a higher average income.

    not saying australia is any better than nz, im just saying larger countries always have more opportunities for young people.

    and, living in such small cities , people may feel they want to get out and start over in a place where no one knows their background.


  2. because Australia is like the "land of opportunity" for the southern hemisphere!

    im not from NZ, but i wouldnt want to live there lol.
