I've been searching for the reason as to why breeds aren't raced against eachother, specifically the Arabian and the Thoroughbred, I haven't found any answers as to why, only that they just aren't.

  1. Its kinda like why you don't ask track & field athletes to compete with golfers in the same game.

  2. they do race quaterhorse against thoroughbreds at 4f or 440 yds...but you would have to have a very long race to even out tbreds and arabians

  3. ok Arabs are endurance riders.....meaning that one could probably out run a throughbred over maybe lets just say a 10 mile run. Throughbreds are faster than arabs at the running they do which is like 1 mile to 2 miles. It's like putting a sprinter up against a cross country runner and telling them to sprint one side of a track......who's going to win the sprint? the sprinter.......if it was a sprinter and a cross country runner racing across a town or something...who's gonna win? the cross country runner.

  4. If  I remember correctly? the Thoroughbred as a breed was originally  bred using 3 horses;the Byerley Turk, the Darley Arabian and the Godolphin Arabian. They created a type of horse with different capabilities from the original Arab Horse

  5. simply because the arab is too slow and over distances of upto 2.5 miles would be simply outclassed.Long distance races, over 10 miles and a lot more,of which the Arab is more suited are just as suitable for T.B's.Basically there is no finer horse breed than a T.B. and although they started with an arab horse many moons ago, they have long since been bred superior in every way to the highly strung and deicate Arab.

  6. they would get annihilated easily dah go curlin and my boy HARD SPUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... 4 LIFE YO

  7. You have different races and dif courses for dif animals. Doesn't make sense to mix them...it would be unfair.  Not to mention, why would the owner/trainer of say a Quarter horse wanna race a Thoroughbred?  Doesn't make sense.

  8. Thoroughbreds would win. Arabians are not that fast.

  9. Jockey Club rules state that only Thoroughbreds can compete in Jockey Club races - that's the way it has been for the past few hundred years.

Thoroughbreds are descended from Arabs but have been bred over the years to be fast over shorter distances.  Arab horses naturally have lots of stamina, hence why they are very popular amongst endurance riders, so would not be able to keep up with a Thoroughbred over a shorter distance.

  10. thoroughbreds are sprinters and arabians are long distance simple as that
