With so many news outlets, each one trying to out-sensationalize the others. It seems to me hauntings would bring in big-time ratings.I don't mean You-Tube videos or short filler stories. I mean in-depth 20/20 type investigations. They would certainly be ratings gold and might just be the proof we're all looking for.

  1. I'm pretty sure there have been reports, but nothing is ever conclusively found. If nothing is ever found, why should they do in-depth reports? Though I'm sure the Sci-Fi channel would.

  2. Just looking at some of the answers in this category should answer your question.  There are some mean, bitter people who are just out to cause conflict and pain.  They don't understand something, so they cut it down.

Imagine if they really did prove that hauntings were real.

The TV stations would never hear the end of it.

And the non-believers would still not believe.

  3. I think that would be huge. Just think if Chris Hansen could be brought into the project: "To Catch A Supernatural Predator".

  4. I would make the news more interesting though, wouldn't it?

I bet a story has been run from time to time when the news is really running dry, but I think the south park watchers would be a more appropriate audience for that kind fo news.

    hehe, south park is funny.

  5. This is an area where local news actually gets it right.  We should count our blessings.

Oh, I'm sorry, was I "cutting someone down"?

  6. maybe it's hard to prove it? or it's hard to catch it on camera? Maybe people are afraid of the unknown?

  7. I do recall clip shows that were done by local channels and hometown tv channels.  Around halloween, they will usually come up with a few.  However it is more or less sensationalism for them.  Seldom can you get a local achorman/woman to go with you on an investigation.  And they always leave early...

  8. Because most news agencies try to at least APPEAR to be reporting the truth - and reporting hauntings would be very far from that.

Try Penn and Teller's Bullshit on Showtime.  They did an investigation on hauntings in their first season.  Turns out there aren't any ghosts.
