Question:

Why aren't abortions free in the United States?

I'm wondering why they are free in some European countries and not here in the U.S. I don't believe in abortion, but I do think it should be legal and affordable for women who need these services. Why are abortions difficult to come by and why aren't BC pills free?

  1. Birth control pills ARE free. Most every state has a "healthy women" program where you get a free pap per year and free birth control. Even things like Mirena and Implanon are included in those programs. You can make a lot of money and still be covered by this free program. You just have to apply.

Abortion is a sugical proceedure done by a doctor. It costs a lot of money. If you get raped, sue for the cost of the abortion. If you get pregnant because you knowingly had unprotected s*x, why should the state pay for your abortion when they already offer free birth control?

  2. Is any medical procedure free in the US??

Birth control pills are free, or close to it if you go to planned parenthood.

  3. Several European countries have socialized medicine, the US does not. Many health care services/procedures are free or low cost because of the health care provided in those countries.

  4. Nothing is really ever "Free" ... Governments just spend the tax money differently. I personally would not be happy with a portion of my tax dollars going towards funding "free" abortions.

  5. for teens its free..find a clinic in the inner city...im against abortiion...wow...killing a baby????????

  6. Birth control pills ARE FREE.

unless the baby was from a "rape"

or it will have birth defects

there shouldnt be a need for abortion.

they should use the d**n pills, or dont have s*x!

  7. You play you pay!  BC are free if you go to the right place, try your local health clinic.  Don't want a baby, don't get preg

  8. i live in the uk and we have the national health service which provides free healthcare to all. all are equal. i find it abhorrent that in the US if you dont have good medical insurance, you dont get medical care. being healthy is everyones basic right no matter how much money you have.
