Why aren't companies laying off lots of management level staff?

I've seen so many companies with lots of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Six Sigma Specialists, Managers, etc. paying very high salaries on average and not necessarily having highly experienced people in these jobs. Why aren't the companies eliminating these types of positions? It's like there aren't many decent lower level jobs at these companies.

  1. Oh they are, you just don't hear about it as much because, they go on to other management positions rather rapidly.


  2. They will if the economy doesn't improve.

    Generally, though, it is harder and more expensive to replace a lower paid worker than a higher paid manager.
