  1. They are feasible.  The only limiting factor is battery technology, and it's advancing rapidly.  There are going to be some really nice electric cars coming out in the next year or two.  See the link below for details.

  2. It depends on your expectations.

Toyota came out with the all electric RAV4 in 1997-98, however Chevron bought all of the rights to the manufacture of the battery, and dismantled the factory, can you guess why?

The big oil companys have been buying up technology for years to force us to use fossil fuel.

  3. The receptiveness for them in the open market has never been stronger (yes, even stronger than when the EV1 was released)...so you will see rapid development in the coming years.

  4. Battery technology is not mature enough to produce reliable all electric cars.  The most technologically advanced electric car being produced at this time is the Tesla Roadster.  It gets 220 miles per charge.  When the battery dies, the car needs to be recharged overnight.   The batteries lose 15% to 20% of their maximum capacity every year, meaning by the fourth year your getting around 100 miles per charge.  By the fifth year, the batteries will be nearly dead and have to be replaced at an estimated cost of $20,000.

So if you can only travel 220 miles, what if you want to make a cross country road trip?  Drive to Vegas from California?  You can't.  These cars are suitable for driving around town or short trips and nothing else.

Even if we had an unlimited amount of electricity the batteries would still be the downfall of any electric car.

Hopefully that illustrates the pitfalls of an all electric car at our current technology level.

  5. Because the operating time of them is the drawback

    .. .. ..

You only have _ _ _ _ _ amount of time till you have a dead battery

    .. .. ..

    And then it takes _ _ _ _ _ hours to do a recharge

    .. . .. ..

Could you see the Expressways on a hot day air conditioners slowly going

    --- de-funk --

with all those dead batteries and people out on a 150 F degree blacktop kicking the c**p out of the car and all kinds of new words for the battery on board

    .. .. ..

Yes it would be the death of the electric car for a couple of generations or more

    .. .. ..

-------- they would be called ----------

Only a nut would would want one of those death traps cars

Park it next to the death door Edsel (or how ever you spell it)

    .. .. ..

  6. They aren't feasible yet, because they haven't been conducted to have the proper guarantee that they will be as productive as gas fueled cars, if that makes sense.  They are currently trying to make them more environmentally safe as far as polution goes, fueling (electrical charged), etc.
