I heard about that on the news how within the next 2 years more affordable electric cars will be introduced. But they are already available, so why haven't people bought any?

  1. Becuase they run up your electric bill, and you are screwed if you get in an accident.

  2. there are a number of reasons including;

lack of infrastructure to support the cars

    insufficient range

    excessive charge time

lack of interest in buying the cars

    lack of availability

hybrids and electric cars are not the be all end all transportation fix that people are looking for, at least not yet.

  3. Right now, they're usually overpriced, underpowered, and don't have the range people are looking for. Not to mention ugly.

The ones you've been hearing about recently like Tesla Motors and the Chevy Volt are huge steps toward making electrics attractive to consumers.

  4. Because they are expensive to buy, dont go as fast and my fella says they dont have the GRRRRRRR that a normal car does!!!

  5. Cause electricity cost much and you might run out of power in the middle of nowhere.

  6. The batteries are just now becoming sufficiently developed.  You need lithium ion batteries to hold enough charge get a decent range and top speed, and they're just reaching that level.  The first affordable highway speed electric car will become available in July of this year.  See the link below for further details.

  7. I know it's already been said, but I loved this movie:

    "Who killed the electric car"

  8. You don't see them around because OPEC cannot make any money off of them...

    Don't believe me?

Watch the movie, "Who killed the electric car"

  9. I think they cost a lot... right?

  10. who knows but i would have to say it is because you cannot get very far, before having to charge them again. that and there are not very many charging stations on the road.

  11. usually rly small, no1 wants to be in a tiny thing with 18-wheelers around...

  12. Well, there just are not enough places to charge them.  And so far, the speed is not fast enough for americans.  The only place they are practical is in the city on short commutes.  In a few years, this will all change.

  13. Over priced and they have a poor performance and range.

    Cost doesn't fit the shortcomings.

  14. They would be an instant hit if a good battery ever gets invented. A good battery is and always has been the killer of electric cars and trucks. Focus on getting a good battery and you will see how fast electric replace all the cars on the road.

  15. They cost too much
