Why aren't ladies allowed to play in major snooker tournaments?

I know there are specific snooker touraments for ladies, which get little publicity and money. But why aren't they allowed to play in the major tournaments? After all if they were not good enough to beat the male players, they wouldn't reach the money stages.

i think they can if they qualify for open tournaments but they have their own world title and snooker circuit its just not as lucrative and well covered as the mens game

just as the men have to wear dinner jackets and bow ties, the ladies have to wear short black dresses with stockings and suspenders.  I have no idea why we don't see more of them.

I think you will find that they are allowed to play,as long as they qualify.

Allison Fisher was not the only woman to play on the mens circuit. When the game was opened op in 1991, as well as Allison there were Stacey Hillyard, Karen Corr, and Tessa Davidson while Kelly Fisher played a bit later on and maybe some more that I can't remember.

Allison Fisher was the only one to get as far as the last 96 in a ranking event and her best ranking was 191 in her five seasons on the tour. Her playing record was won 59; lost 54; drew 4 (she also played in the league)

Stacey Hillyard played for three and a bit seaons and reached a best ranking of 288. She won 18 matches and lost 39.

Karen Corr played on the tour, on and off, from 1991 to 1998. She won 25 and lost 41 and had a best ranking of 370.

Tessa Davidson played for only one season and won two out of her 10 matches.

Kelly Fisher only played in the World Championship and the B&H Championship between 1997 and 2003 winning three and losing six. She also played on the Challenge Tour for several seasons winning occasionally.

Mainly because they refuse to follow the dress code which is black trousers, dress shirt, bow tie and waistcoat for me and black mini skirt, stockings, suspenders, white blouse undone to the third button for ladies.

i think they are allowed to play it depends if they are good enough, I have seen some women get through to some of the first rounds then get knocked out
