Question:

Why aren't liberals as charitable?

Several recent studies have shown that liberals give considerably less to charity than conservatives. I have provided two links to check out. What implications do you think this has for the future of our society? Do you have any theories to add to why this is?

  1. Your point? I'm also sure that the people who ran these studies did not speak with all liberals and all conservatives, either, so it's fallible. I'm more on the liberal side as far as my fiance seems to think (I personally don't care for politics or what side you're on as long as you have good ideals and tangible plans to make these ideals a reality, rather than big talk and campaign promises), and I donate often to charity.

When I lose weight and buy new clothes to fit me better, or if I simply get tired of something (if I don't wear it for a year, and it just sits in my closet) I donate those clothes that I don't wear anymore. I used to be in a homeless shelter due to a problem which I will not discuss. I was always thankful for every piece of clothing I got on the Friday afternoons when we got a visit from the Salvation Army truck.

I really don't think that your political ideas have any baring on your level of charity any more than wearing purple makes you more likely to be a megalomaniac.

  2. lol I read about that stupid study, it was NOT scientific and is false!  How can you make such hasty generalizations!

  3. Liberals love to be charitable with OTHER PEOPLE'S money.  They will create grand welfare states and social cages to keep the under-class poor while simultaneously increasing taxes on middle and upper classes, thereby dragging everyone down into a shared social misery.

  4. Maybe that's because they are less likely to give blindly to charities by checking first to ensure that their donations go to those who actually need it instead of going to administrative overhead or to support someone else's lavish lifestyle.
