  1. If a cricket board is too much absorbed in taking fines and banning a controversial and extremely disturbing fast bowler for just some months, this is what happens. The national team gets thrown out of the Asia cup in the 2nd round, gets thrashed by the arch-rivals virtually every match and each player takes his place in the side for granted. The domestic structure fails and new players do not come up.

Pakistan specialise in fast-bowlers. The last good fast bowler to come up was Tanvir. The last spinner-Danish Kaneria. Now, if one looks at India, then:

Pace bowlers-Ishant Sharma, Shantakakumaran Sreesanth, Rudra Pratap Singh, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, Manpreet Singh Gony.

Spinners-Piyush Chawla, Pragyan Ojha, Yousuf Pathan.

    Sri Lanka :

    Spinners-Ajantha Mendis.

There lies the difference. The SLC and the BCCI are interested in bringing up new players while the PCB is interested in fining Shoaib Akhtar and banning Inzamam-ul-Haq and Abdul Razzaq.

  2. Don't forget Danish Kaneria was given a Grade C contract even though he had been one of the most consistent and reliable performers for the team. Along with Saqlain Mushtaq and Mushtaq Ahmed, it is disgraceful how the PCB treats them, given that the personal indiscipline of their fast bowlers (Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akhtar) means that Pakistan are left pretty much without any depth in bowling (since Mohammad Sami, Rana Naved ul Hasan, Shahid Nazir, Shabbir Ahmed, Abdur Razzaq and Arshad Khan also defaulted to the ICL). However, as to your question, I really don't know. It is a stretch to believe that nobody bowls spin in Pakistan due to the uncertainty surrounding the employment of spin bowlers. I think it is a natural cycle. Pakistan had a good time producing spinners, from Abdul Qadir to Saqlain, Mushtaq Ahmed and Kaneria, so now their is a lull (bust after the boom). Maybe in 5-7 years time they will have a quality spinner again. Perhaps they should establish a "spin academy" somewhere in the subcontinent in the same way as the MRF Pace Foundation churns out quality fast bowlers for the entire subcontinent.

  3. Pakistanis have a habit of messing up every thing they get any luck with.....its not just cricket......look at squash and hockey they have made a mess of everything they were ever good at the main reason is that as soon as a sport starts getting attention a group of corrupt govt/ officials barge in and place themselves at the top of the federations and eat money out of everything not giving any consideration to the game

  4. They are focusing on fast bowlers

In SL there are spinner friendly pitches.

So new spinners turn up regularly .

  5. people might be focusing on batting and fast bowling

  6. they're goin for fast bowlers...nywayz no offence to any1 but their team's screwed up rite nw wid all the controversies

  7. Pakistan have not good infrastructure

  8. now pak board give priority to fast bowlers only

  9. Pakistan is always known best for its FAST bowling attack.

    like s****.akhtar , wasim , waqar , aqaib, umar gul , sohail.

Even you see australia they also rely on their fast bowling attack except shane warne who could do the job single handedly both with bat & ball.

But pakistan will get a very good spinner if selecters search for it.

whereas India opposite to it...always known to hav spinners bcoz...all indian pitches favours the spinners due climatic conditions here.

So..don worry....pakistan will soon hav a good young spinner.

  10. Most of the youngsters in pak are believing that fast blowing is the only way to play for the country - spin has not impressed pak's selectors - after having shoaib - wasim aktar -waqar etc -

  11. Youngsters in Pakistan dont like to be spinners!! They either want to be a batsman or fast bowler!! This is the main reason why in Pakistan, they're not having much spinners!!

  12. Not only spinners, but good batsman and pacers are also not coming out due to bad administration by Pakistan Board.  At this moment, bench strength of Pakistan is zilch.  It is not surprise, if Pakistan cricket collapse in near future like every other field be it politics, industry, film, business, education, arts etc.

  13. Hmm

quite right Ajmal looks impressive though

but u gotta say the fast bowling brigade is still terrific

  14. I think that they are focusing on fast bowling.  They showed that when they appointed their coach.

  15. Simple...Fast bowling...they are mainly concentrating on fast bowling rather than spinning...
