  1. You want to control the change in temperature of a planet?  Pretty d**n ambitious, isn't it?

In all of the history of the universe, has there ever been a planet that didn't have variation in temperature?  So you don't think you can keep the planet the same temperature all the time, do you?

Right now, considering the earth's recent climate, which would be more beneficial, some heating or some cooling?   If you had to choose heating or cooling, starting with where we are now, which do you think would be better for humans and other living things?

    HEATING

Cold kills.  Cold requires enormous expenditure of energy just to survive, causing more destruction, death, and pollution.

Some warming would be good for civilization, for humanity, and for the plants and animals of the earth.

  2. Actually most real scientists are - but the media is owned by billionaire Bush supporters who will only quote the corporate owned 'scientists'.  In the world of billions of dollars, appearance is everything.

  3. Asterisk: With that list and its origin, try going to the oism homepage it shows the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine for what it really is, a big tin shed headed by the clown princes of the denier movement Arthur B. Robinson, Noah E. Robinson, and Willie Soon, thanks for posting the link I had the best laugh in days.

    This list is completely discredited.

  4. Because they dont know for a FACT that is all man made. There is enough evidence against GW, that it may be natural and normal weather patterns. So why have a knee jerk reaction and waste alot of money?

  5. Maybe because they want to get something really big and then they would tell us about it to make it seem like they are really smart. I''m not saying scientist are not smart

  6. They will not be living when the actual effects of global warming will come... they will laugh at us and watch us die.. sorry but i think its kind of true,, im not saying all of them think this way, but there are these kind of people that just dont care...

  7. Because half the scientist know it's not real, and the politicians want to keep their jobs.

  8. These scientific organizations all say that we're causing the warming and that we have reason to be very concerned:

NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS)

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

    National Academy of Sciences (NAS)

State of the Canadian Cryosphere (SOCC)

    Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Royal Society of the United Kingdom (RS)

    American Geophysical Union (AGU)

    American Institute of Physics (AIP)

National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

    American Meteorological Society (AMS)

Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS)

    Academia Brasiliera de Ciências (Bazil)

    Royal Society of Canada

    Chinese Academy of Sciences

    Academié des Sciences (France)

Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina (Germany)

    Indian National Science Academy

    Accademia dei Lincei (Italy)

    Science Council of Japan

    Russian Academy of Sciences

    Royal Society (United Kingdom)

National Academy of Sciences (United States of America)

    Australian Academy of Sciences

Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and the Arts

    Caribbean Academy of Sciences

    Indonesian Academy of Sciences

    Royal Irish Academy

    Academy of Sciences Malaysia

Academy Council of the Royal Society of New Zealand

    Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) alone has 50,000 members... how many more do you want?

Now politicians are another matter.  The coal industry is one of the strongest lobbies in Washington D.C. and the oil industry isn't far behind.  They give money to our politicians and practically run the government (a large number of the Bush administration's key people are former oil industry executives).

One thing you can do is check voting records and kick the worst offenders out of office this Fall:

    http://lcv.org/scorecard/

Check your elected representative's vote on this key issue and send a letter:

Also write a letter to your local newspaper editor to inform people in your community:

Send presidential candidate Senator John McCain a letter:

You're the only one that can turn your politicians around or kick them out of office.

If you do nothing, don't complain about the outcome that you've allowed to come about.

  9. Because scientists don't usually worry about proving the existence of natural ice ages, well solar caused technically.

  10. OIL OIL OIL..........The only way to stop global warming is to stop using oil.and that isn't going to happen

  11. heh, i dont believe in it. I'm like the only girl(besides my friend bailey) in my class that doesnt believe in it

  12. asterisk - you really should do a little research before posting such a link.  That list has been debunked for years.

Some scientists are starting to get active.  But scientists tend to be collectors and analysts of data, not policy advocates.  So they generally merely present what their research finds and let the response be up to others.  However, more and more prominent climate scientists are getting very nervous about the lack of action by politicians, so they are speaking out publicly.

Here's a recent declaration signed by some of the most respected climate scientists in the world:

    http://www.climatesciencewatch.org/index...

"Based on current scientific understanding, this requires that global greenhouse gas emissions need to be reduced by at least 50% below their 1990 levels by the year 2050. In the long run, greenhouse gas concentrations need to be stabilised at a level well below 450 ppm (parts per million; measured in CO2-equivalent concentration). In order to stay below 2 ºC, global emissions must peak and decline in the next 10 to 15 years, so there is no time to lose.

As scientists, we urge the negotiators to reach an agreement that takes these targets as a minimum requirement for a fair and effective global climate agreement."

  13. Because they dont know for a FACT that is all man made. There is enough evidence against GW, that it may be natural and normal weather patterns. So why have a knee jerk reaction and waste alot of money?

Jason E.: Do you have permission to copy someone??

  14. Leftists scientists and leftist universities (that is about all of them) are concerned because it is a political and not scientific issue.  It is a case where science is used (abused) by leftists because they can never win by the ballet box.  Leftists always seek to get around the will of the people by courts or scams. They seek to scare you and say you are going to die if you don't listent to us or we need money for the children.  It is sad that the lack of education makes these sorts of tricks work.  Why do people believe that warming is necessarily bad?  It is because they are gullible.

  15. What do you mean "more"?  Almost all scientists are concerned about it.

The main points that most would agree on as the scientific consensus are:

    1) The earth is getting warmer

    2) People are causing this

    3) If GHG emissions continue, the warming will continue and indeed accelerate

    4) This will be a problem and we ought to do something about it

    http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/arc...

See point #4?  They are concerned.  Here are all the groups which agree with the scientific consensus:

  16. We already have pretty good laws on the books.  My generation fought hard to get them there.  The Bush Administration has suspended enforcement since taking office.  That's why the big increase in environmental problems since 2000.  Any State seeking enforcement has had to take him all the way to the Supreme Court to get it.  The Court has upheld the States every time, but many States simply can't afford the huge expense required to try to get his gang to obey the law.

  17. You should ask these 17,200 scientists...

  18. They are concerned...

Well, here is the statement form the 50,000 members of the American Geophysical Union.

Another link to the Geological Society of America and it's 21,500 members.

The National Academy of Sciences membership consists of approximately 2,100 members and 350 foreign associates, each of whom is affiliated with one of 31 disciplinary Sections. Their position statement is linked.

These are just a few. Every mainstream scientific organization is in agreement.

  19. Because not all of them are on the payroll of companies who stand to benefit from a Global Warming panic.
