It seems that women in our western society have so many opportunities but many choose not to fallow this path.

  1. i honestly think we've become "spoiled" in a sense.

Some people just throw away opportunities.

  2. umm what??? there are still many barriers for women in todays society, so many people are still sexist and whatever, and there are many women in the field of science and technology, i dont know where you live or where you're getting your info from, but whatever, its not like women everywhere are passing up opportunities, and whats so great about that path anyways?? u know how many fields are out there??

  3. I guess there afraid of what people will think of them. it bad thing that can't show there talents but let encourage them, and boys too. (for not all them jerk or sexiest, for nasty girl out there too) let hope remember apperciate one another

  4. well science along with mathematics etc deals in FACTS. its very difficult to B.S. your way thru a career in science.  Woman are better suited to careers where hard work and intellect arent as important such as HR, politics and the media.

Obviously this doesnt apply to all woman just most of them.

  5. They don't choose to go into those fields because they prefer to do something else, namely land a man. Women are inherently more vulnerable and therefore are encouraged to and naturally develop dependent personalities, which lead them to seeking one thing primarily: someone to take care of them.

  6. I disagree with you. There a lot of woman in  science. h**l one of the leading techs in the Mars Phoenix lander program is a woman

  7. Let's just do some comparing:

The percentage of men who get doctoral degrees in science and engineering has remained between about 20-25% since 1970. Women, though, have gone from 20% in the 70's to almost 50%. So, I don't think it's because we aren't smart enough. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the ever present glass ceiling. If you look at the numbers for self-employeed in the Science and Engineering field, you'll see that the numbers are about the same for both women and men. However, both for-profit companies and higher education professors are 70% men. Primary and secondary educators in science and technology have a higher percentage women as educators. It's not that we don't follow the path, it's that the path is so riddled with barriers put up by a male dominated society, that we are still pushing our way through.
