Why aren't my canines coming down?

I'm 15 years old but my teeth are incredibly delayed when it comes to losing them- i still have one loose tooth and am only just beginning to gett my 12 year molars. about five months ago I had both canines and 2 biscupids (the pair closest to my molars) removed because my teeth are impacted, according to my dentist.

my biscupids are almost fully in, but i just have empty spaces where my canines are and it looks ridiculous. why won't my teeth come in and is there anything i can do?

  1. there is nothing you can do. thats just the way your body is. you cant speed up the prosess. the only alternative is to get them pulled while impacted.

  2. see an orthodondist. at 15, you may need to have these canines pulled down. tell your gp you want a referral. you need an ortho dontic work up. i'm suprised you haven't already seen an orthodontist

  3. Mine took too long as well. So first I made a trip to the dentist. They made incisions in the gumline to expose the teeth. Plenty of novacane of course so it didn't hurt. Just felt odd to have little "flaps" of my gums pushed up and stitched into place above the teeth.

And then the orthodontist attached some braces to those teeth, and they came down really fast. Very effective.

Hope I didn't make it sound too bad. It really wasn't. It was nice to have a full set of teeth!
