i have a laptop and it's like been fine until now, 'cause when i press play on media play no sound comes out. it's not on mute, it's turned right up and everything. i've also so noticed that the sound won't work on anything else either. it was working fine last night so why won't it work now? ;s

i've tried restarting my computer but it didn't make a difference.

  1. do u have it muted ---fn/end button will turn it off an on

fn/ page up or down will increase or decrease

only other thing is u lost ur soundcard driver software

    or id died(soundcrad)

  2. It might have just died. You didn't say how old it was. Probably the sound card. lol. No idea what a sound card is and never knew it existed before I read the guy above. lol. Good luck with solving your problem.

  3. Try this:  Click start lower  left on your desk top, then click  control panel then double  click sounds and audio devices.    Click  audio tab ensure your speakers are the default playback  device do the same with  the voice tab.  If not change them and click o.k. You can also check your equipment while you are there.

  4. Right then, what you want to do is this:

Check that the sound is not turned off:

Control Panel (classic view) -> Sounds and audio devices (has a little speaker symbol next to it)

Check all of the settings here, to make sure that everything is set correctly, the right audio device is selected and that nothing is set on mute.

Make sure that you also click on the "advanced" button under volume and check that you haven't switched the sound off here anywhere (I can actually switch the sound of with my mouse on my pc)

If this is all as it should be then go to:

Control Panel (classic view) -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

Look for an entry near the top called "Audio Video etc ..."

Open this by clicking on the plus sign next to it. If any of the entries there have a question mark next to them then it means that the device is not being recognized correctly and you will have to reinstall it.

Also, if you are using stand alone speakers then check the speakers on another computer to make sure they work. Obvious as it may sound, also check that they are plugged in correctly.
