Why aren't my videos going on windows movie maker?

I put all the videos from my camera onto my computer,

when i opened up windows movie maker and clicked on the 'import video' link the video didn't show up in 'my videos' where i put them. so i went to my videos and right clicked on one of my videos and clicked on 'open in' and i put windows movie maker it and didn't work..

what did i do wrong??

  1. Is this a minidv camera or a minidvd camera?

    If it's minidv and you didn't use a firewire connection that could be a problem.

    If it's a minidvd and you didn't convert the files, then that could be a problem.

    You should be able to open your files in wmm, if wmm supports your type of file. I went to the help secion of WMM and and found that these files are supported.

    Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma

    Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf

    Video files: .asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv


  2. the video format might not be compatible with it.
