  1. Job Corps students are not allowed to have cars while living there for several reasons.  #1.  The Centers are responsible for the student's safety and automobiles create issues that the centers do not have the staff and capacity to deal with.  #2.  Insurance and liability issues.  #3 They can't handle the parking nightmare it would create.  #4  Most Job Corps Centers are closed campus to prevent the flow of drugs and alcohol on and off campus.

    .

However, having said all that.  If you are going as a non-residential student you will be allowed to have a car during the training day for the purpose of transporting yourself to and from the center.

Hope this doesn't prevent you from going and obtaining free training and education.  I truly is a great program

  2. Job Corps is a comprehensive residential education and job training program for at-risk youth, ages 16 through 24. Job Corps students are more intensely-supervised than on, say, a college campus, and one of the ways to cut down on opportunities to engage in negative activities is to not allow students to have cars on campus. For instance, alcohol is banned on any Job Corps campus, but it would be pretty easy to have it if students were allowed to have their cars on campus.

  3. Whats a job corps? That sounds.....chilling

  4. Because to get to Job Corp, you must not have been the best kid on the block.  Kinda a step down from Juvenile detention.  They don't want you to have that kind of freedom, because you have proved to them in the past you can't be trusted with it.

  5. I don't really know a lot about Job Corps, but it is probably due to the training that you will receive in that there are probably initial rules regarding the amount of freedom that you will have in the beginning. They don't want you driving off every time you get a break, it's about control...we were not allowed to keep our vehicles during basic training either.

Hope I was of some help :)
