Why aren't there more alternative fuel vehicles in India?

Apart from reva and the few brands of electric scooters, why are't there more?Other countries have cars and scooters with Porsche and top end petrol scooter performances respectively.

  1. Well ... cost factor is one huge reason, another reason is that these cars n scooters cannot be used for out of town trips - the charge is limited.


  2. companies in India have no dare to start vehicles with alternate fuels. they may be afraid if their idea of alternate fuels doesn't reach their expectations. moreover there is no science advancement in energy resources and no separate branch for development and improvement of science in India. then how can they find out alternative fuels with no negative effects.

  3. You haven't looked hard enough.  

    Check out this car that runs only on compressed air and is scheduled to be on sale in 2008.

  4. Because the Govt./State has not provided refueling stations for the public to recharge their vehicles.  Even the CNG stations have long queues and are few and far between. I haven't heard of any recharging stations for electric vehicles anywhere in my city, Mumbai, which has the highest number of vehicles in my country, India.

  5. cars will produce global warming and scotters will also produce warming
