Why aren't we using weather balloons for transportation?

According to the military, weather balloons, swamp gas, and venus can outperform the most advanced aircrafts in flight manuvering, and are reported by millions of people each year flying overhead. One even crashed in new mexico in 1947. So why don't we use weather balloons to travel since they can rapidly attain speeds in excess of 10,000 mph?
