Question:

Why aren't women included in the draft

As a woman, I believe that women should be included in the draft as well as men. Why is it that at 18, men get a card in the mail from the Selective Service Act and are required to sign it, but women don't? Women generally stay at home taking care of the children, but also, too many women are reproducing and adding to the population problem. Shouldn't women be included in the Selective Service Act, so that they are equal to men?

  1. The draft wouldn't make women equal men still can't have baby's

  2. To make it fair, women should be included in the draft but life is unfair, for men and women alike.

  3. First there is no draft, it's a registration.  The true reason is that Congress voted against it back in 1980 making it illegal for women to sign up for the draft.  Thank your Congress (opposite of pro is con and opposite of progress is Congress) for making that possible.

  4. Women are not allowed to fight in combat (Only reason there would be a draft)

  5. Because women are not allowed to fight in the war (go into combat).

  6. If you want to, be my guest.

  7. Because there is NO DRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. So voluntarily sign up!!!!

  9. Men and women are already equal . The physical difference can't be changed by the Selective Service Act.  Women have always volunteered and served proudly before, during and even after the draft .

If that means to you being equal then Join and Serve its your Equal Right.

  10. A draft is meant to increase combat troop numbers. Women do not serve in combat MOS's so there is no need to draft women.

  11. Women aren't allowed in front line combat (in most countries) and often the main aim of a draft is to increase the number of front line troops.

I too believe that women should be allowed in front line combat - i also believe that there should not be different fitness standards for men and women in the army as there often are. If you need x amount of strength or endurance to do a job - then that's what you need - sand bags don't weigh less just 'cause you're female! And if you have that strength and endurance you should be allowed to do that job regardless of your gender. It really should be as simple as that.

So yes, women should be included in the selective service act because they *are* equal to men and because it doesn't make sense to exclude 50% of your population from a draft when the aim is to draft as many people as possible!

  12. There is no draft.
