Why aren't you Mormon?

A missionary asked me this today, I said Joseph Smith lied.

What's your reasons

Because it's completely not right for me, and as far as I'm concerned Joseph Smith was either delusional, a con artist, or both.   Unfortunately I was born into it (fifth-generation) so it was all I knew growing up and it was hard to leave.

Well, I was baptized and raised Catholic but later became non-religious after reading about so many different religions and spiritual traditions. It was then I realized religions are man made. Spirituality is beyond religious dogma and traditions, and to me this is more attractive in my view. Just my view.

I chose not to be an evangelical Christian because all the evangelical preachers I have seen are evil-looking. The Televangelists are all power-hungry s*x animals.

Lied about what and where's your proof?

I know Joseph Smith stands at the right hand of Christ today, he IS a prophet of God and one day I will thank him for all he did.

Joseph Smith was Prophet of God. He was a good man and He spoke the truth. I absolutely know that to be true, and I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God.

That's a many many reason that I left the LDS church . Much information about certain doctrines and history was not told to be before my baptism. Things like polygamy in the celestial kingdom (highest level of mormon heaven) All the polygamy of the past , and the ages of some girls and some were already married to mormon men.

I NEVER heard anything negative about the past mormon leaders and the racism..and spewing awful things.

The temple creeped me out and, I tried for years to make sense of it, but I found no loving GOD there. Pre 1990 was very different...(worse)

IMO..The internet is very damning to the mormon church, much is hidden from young mormons or recent converts...

People have a right to know about this all before they join Mormonism.

The policy of the church, when dealing with its biggest lies is to offer "milk before meat". This is how they justify not telling people that the "Jesus" they believe in is literally a brother of Satans and how they do not tell people that there is polygamy in heaven.

You know, that's actually a really good question. A great way for a missionary to get you involved in his ideas. Good manipulation.

I'm not a mormon because i don't like the idea of having to live up to certainn expectations and living under certain guidelines. I also think that having a religion can cause a lot of problems, so i find it easier not to have one. I also like to not have to worry about what i'm doing if it'll send me to h**l.
