  1. Because it's not appropriate golf attire, and encompasses far too wide of a spectrum.

At some municipal courses they don't have a rule about jeans, but your upscale courses and country clubs typically don't allow jeans.

So wear a pair of chinos or appropriate shorts, and then put your jeans on after you're done.

  2. Mostly tradition and keeping things at a standard across the board.  With that said there are many times I go out at my local courses and wear jeans with a nice polo, usually only in the fall or spring and not at really nice courses either; just ones where the greens fees are under $40.

  3. Simply Ettiquite. it is considered casual wear.

  4. Well, i am a golfer and have had problems with wearing jean shorts with rips in them before. I think y u arn't aloud to where jeans at the golf course is because they are not appropriate, like if they have rips, and some ppl are  just plain old mean and have to go by the rules. I am a good golfer and all too, i am 14 eyars old and have about a 5 or so handycap! Kids don't always folo the rules too, but i try to! I hope u think my answer is well explained and thanks for putting up this question!

  5. Jeans are considered to be casualwear, as they were originally developed for farmers and other workman. Most golf clubs like to aspire to higher standards and require things like jackets and/or ties for men and refuse to admit people wearing jeans, open-toed shoes, or short pants. However, most golf clubs have both a formal dining room and a casual "lunch/garden" room, and the latter often has more relaxed rules.

  6. Its probably cuz its not "fancy enough" or "disrespectful to the sport". Plus,...well now that i think about it, it is kind of stupid....

    umm...yeah.

  7. On nicer, more expensive courses, as well as private courses, they really discourage players from wearing jeans; in fact, many of those "elite" clubs have a "dress code"!

Probably, because jeans are considered "blue-collar" type working clothes"; and typically, members of an exclusive golf club are NOT typically "blue-collar" types...but rather "white-collar"...or executive-types!

HOWEVER, many city/municipal golf courses DON'T have a specific rule regarding blue jeans;  I've seen many players wearing jeans on the colder days (here in southern California).  Just no tanktops or short-shorts!

Wearing proper golf attire is part of the "prestige" of golf and it supports the sport's image of golfer's being well-dressed men/women.  Those days of plaid pants & bright colored shirts are really a thing of the past.  Very few real players (almost NONE) wear those stereotype tacky outfits, anymore...not for years!

Most amateurs wear shorts, while the pros have to wear long pants, and a polo shirt!

  8. the reason this is is because you must look respectable on the course. some clubs let you wear jeans. Some dont. its just a rule some clubs allow to be broken.

  9. Most cheaper golf courses don't really care if you wear jeans, it's the fancier ones that worry about it.  I think khakis are more comfortable anyway, especially in the summer when it's 100 degrees outside (here it is at least).
