  1. because phones emmitt a static charge and petrolium fumes are very strong wich means they can catch easily on fire because of thier heavy oil in the dence of air.

  2. Supposedly, a spark could be caused by it which csn ignite the petrol and blow up the whole station,

Though there was this thing my teacher made us watch in science, where people tested it on a caravan, and it didn't blow up... lol

  3. becase they suposedly will cause gas (or petrol) to ignite. However, that show mythbusters tested this and it is false. the real danger is static electricity. Always touch something before filling up the car to release any static electricity you may have.

  4. Better ask it to the one who invented that policy!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. It was once believed that the radio waves from your phone could cause an explosion when too near to the tanks.  That rumor has long sense been debunked but the signs are kept up as a precaution.

  6. Static charges can actually ignite you into flames, and it happened in Thailand before not so long ago.

  7. It is meant to cause explosions but it doesn't

  8. Apparently there is a 1 in a billion chance that the phone will give off a spark that could ignite the gas vapors. Rather safe then sorry you say right… However

Cell phone use is getting more and more restricted. Bars, restaurants and airplanes you name it. One of these days cell phone use is going to be considered like smoking and we will have designated areas where you can use them. You think im crazy right? But if I made the same comment about smoking 30 years ago I would have had the same reaction... Just a thought ;-)

  9. petrol is extremely flamable A mobile might set it off. You must be careful. It is a precaution so that we can be safe, just in case

  10. Mobile phone are capable of producing some sparks(as it is an electronic device).

Hope you could remember an accident few months before at a petrol station in north india, due to usage of mobile phone in a tanker lorry carrying petrol.
