Why aren't you supposed to brush teeth before using whitestrips?

hi

i have some crest white strips. the instructions tell me not to brush my teeth before using them. why is this?

and is there a certain length of time i should leave before brushing after i have used the strips?

i want to know so i can get the most out of them.

I think you're not supposed to brush b4 using them so that they don't strip the enamel off your teeth. (which they do anyways)
