Why arent there a lot of lightning in a hurrricane?

1.How come thunderstorms have more lighning than hurricanes.

2.Do hurricanes have strgiht line winds, or winds that spin like a tornado.

3.why do tropical weather systems create tornadoes as soon as they get into the usa.

  1. 1. Hurricanes are an organized congregation of thunderstorms, so they should have plenty of lightning. Just maybe not all at once.

    2. Hurricanes on a large scale (obviously) rotate like tornadoes. But on small scales they have powerful straight-line winds.

    3. Once the system hits land it begins to slow near the surface, but upper level winds are moving across the storm and have greater speeds. This change in speed and direction is called wind shear and causes a little bit of roll and rotation within the storm. If that roll get tilted vertically it can become a tornado. Basically, by introducing friction to the storm you create the potential for tornado formation.
