  1. Our 'values' and decreasing gene pool.

  2. cuz everybody got lazy, yeah i could be the next Shakespeare but id rather just sit on my *** and right answers to questions rather than being creative....*smokes weed*

  3. There are people out there doing creative, outstanding things, but unfortunately they don't get as much publicity as celebrities do.

  4. This is a common misperception. Actually, there are more geniuses than ever - so many that genius has become devalued. Genius is literally a dime a dozen nowadays - which is a big reason that people with college diplomas are forced to work at food service and other low-wage work - there is too much competition. Of course, this is only a narrow economists' perspective - there are more reasons that a college diploma has become devalued.

I think that explanations of contemporary human behavior are too subjective/psychologizing, which is why I am fascinated with sociology. The radio commentators and political pundits that talk about America's declining intelligence, the "death of common sense," etc have so far failed to convince me. I might feel that public production and consumption of stupidity is on the increase - Beavis & Butthead, Tom Green, crude f**t humor, etc would have been unthinkable in the 1950s. Perhaps the public display of non-intelligence is on the rise (our current president notwithstanding) - but the objective indicators do not suggest that people are getting stupider or that there are less geniuses.

  5. Yeah, guys like, Stephen Hawking, the late Dr. Debakey, Jonas Salk. No more geniuses - please!

  6. There technically are. A genius is defined as someone who has an IQ of 128 or greater. There are actually several people like that. As far as creativity goes, there still are some. There are just so many discoveries nowadays that a lot of them go unnoticed.
