Question:

Why autopilot can't earth aircraft?

Anytime they tried to do so, it happened an accident.. What is the exact problem there?

The computer works faster and can calculate the glide path, also it can fight easier with sidewind than the human pilot!!

or there are any technical difficulties?

  1. The computer cannot do some things a pilot can do. For example there are autoland limits to crosswinds where as the pilots may manually handle stronger conditions.

And yes the autopilot can land the aircraft, its called the autoland as mentioned above but can only be accomplished with airports supproting a Cat III ILS system.

  2. Some can.  It isn't always an accident.

Maybe some of the Category III guys can comment on technical difficulties.

The computer and autopilot can counter the crosswind more easily than a pilot can?    If you are landing in a very strong crosswind then you better be hand-flying!

  3. Cat IIIc aircraft autolands if the airport will support it.

  4. Try an internet search on "autoland."

  5. they cant see the red over white so the pilot has to however th auto pilot can control heading so were getting close

  6. It is called Autoland.

Its been tried and its fully operational for certain aircrafts. It does have some atmospheric limitations, but on an average, autoland systems do a better job than the pilot. Have a go at the link below or search for "Aircraft Autoland" in any search engine.

  7. Auto-land systems are very common.  They work just fine.

  8. Autopilot can land aircraft. It's called autoland, and it is available since the 1960s. The first aircraft with autoland was the Vickers VC10. In some weather conditions, pilots MUST use autoland.

  9. Huh?

  10. Any autopilot can get you to an airport.  The problem is when the ground gets in the way.

Modern airliners land themselves every day.  This requires a lot of processing from many different inputs.  A system like this is simply too expensive for any smaller planes.

Other than those modern airliners, there is too much computing power required to consider every variable of landing a plane.  There is still a bit of art to the science of flying.
