Why baseball cannot be kept out from Olympics and what role Major League Baseball can play?-Part 2
Even if the Major League Baseball players do not take part, baseball still can thrive in the Olympics. Nothing can be worse for a sport than the fact that its exhibition is restricted because of just one organisation. The present disregard for the sport
is in fact turning out to be a defeat for the Olympics authorities.
The MLB will be pumped up with the knowledge that without them things have been stalemated and that whenever an opportunity arises they can dictate their terms and get them accepted immediately.
Therefore, only way that baseball can be liberated from the slavery of MLB is by having it being played before the world in the Olympic Games and letting it regenerate its identity.
Let baseball redefine its future by exploring new avenues from where talent can come forth. Let the things be put in perspective by privileging only that organisation for displaying the pinnacle of baseball mastery by the players that deserves doing so the
most.
Let those players that earn laurels in the game using drugs and performance enhancing measures be exposed. Let the so-called legends have their sword employed in the games after passing through rigorous procedures for determining the usage of drugs by them.
Since MLB is still far from ensuring perfection in preventing players from getting away with drugs use, the International Olympic Committee can go a long way in this regard.
That is when the pure will be segregated from the impure. Only those players that exhibit exactly what they are in reality will be seen on the podiums, lifting trophies and earning applauses. The garb of excellence will be taken off from those who have been
successful in hoodwinking the authorities in their domestic circuits. Those that have nurtured a robust fan-base in the façade of legendary flair will be unveiled and their true faces will be shown to the whole world.
However, that is only possible when the baseball is made a permanent part of the Olympics. With many years in these games, a competitive circuit of baseball will have developed and more countries will be putting up their best talent in the game. Therefore,
players coming from any part of the world will have to deliver something out of the ordinary on the field to attain accreditation, as opposed to an above average lot facing the mediocre and outwitting even with drug rules implemented on them.
In this manner, there will come a time when becoming part of the Olympics will be a matter of survival for these domestic baseball organisations operating in the various countries. Not making it to the Olympics will be taken as shame and will be considered
a deficiency in their players. The fans around the world will grow skeptical of the individuals that fail to qualify for the Olympics. Thus, the business of those organisations will suffer when the expertises of their players are being viewed with suspicion.
That will be the victory of what is right and what should have been entrusted everything in the first place. That will be the tameness of what is now a disconcerted assortment of monopolists, the ones that keep their interest ahead of actual requirements
of the game.
One will hope that sooner than later sanity prevails and the International Olympic Committee announces immediate steps in this regard. Unless it acts now, the future of baseball is bound to be concentrated in few countries and the promulgation of the sport
will not take place.
