i know it's better to go running after you just get up rather than later on, but why, i think it has to boost your metabolism for the time, but that's just me, and how the heck do you get a sleepyhead like me to

wake up 5am

  1. I got the below information at the link I also put below. I have always worked out in both the morning and afternoon. I will do a bike ride in the morning and than my running and lifting in the afternoon. There is NO research as of yet that can prove whether running in the morning, mid day, evening, or night is the best. They all have their advantages and disadvantages. The below link I found had a little explanation for all the times. I hope this helps you.

"Late Afternoon is Best for Exercise

Research shows that the optimal time to exercise is when our body temperature is at its highest, which, for most people is 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. (body temperature is at its lowest just before waking).

Strength is Greater in the Afternoon

Dr. Hill reported that strength output is 5% higher at around mid-day; anaerobic performance, such as sprinting, improves by 5% in the late afternoon.

Endurance is Greater in the Afternoon

Aerobic capacity (endurance) is approximately 4% higher in the afternoon.

Injuries Are Less Likely in the Afternoon

Afternoon exercise is the best if you want to avoid injuries for many reasons. We are most alert; our body temperature is the highest so our muscles are warm and flexible; and our muscle strength is at its greatest. These three factors make it less likely that we will get injured."

PS: I'm a fan of working out in the afternoon if you couldn't tell.

  2. Some people are so busy that if they put it off until the afternoon/early evening, it may never happen. But physically, it is true that late afternoon is best if it works for your schedule.

As for getting you to wake up at 5 a.m. (or whenever you would have to wake up to run before going to work/school), the good news is that once you do it for a few days your body gets used to it and starts waking you up at that time. The one plus for doing it first thing in the morning is that if you have any insomnia issues whatsoever, it really helps get you on a regular sleep schedule.

  3. The best time for running is between 3-8PM for performance. But for weight lose, it is better to run 30 min after wake up, so to boost your metabolizm level for the whole day.

  4. well it;s better to run in the moorings since it isn't as hot compared to later in the day

  5. when you run immediately from waking your body consumes your body fat for calories. this is because you havent eaten yet, so all your body can use for fuel is that fat you dont like.

that metabolism thing might be right but its deff. about the fat.

  6. first of all, you don't have to wake up at 5am., i think 7:30 am. sounds about the perfect time for a morning run. second of all, it's better to do it in the morning WITH an empty stomach because you're burning the calories off from yesterday instead of eating, gaining calories, and then losing the calories you just gained and nothing else. so if you run in the morning before breakfast, your muscles will get stronger faster because there is less resistance from food and you can probably eat more during the day(if you want to).

  7. Well, it isn't.

There is no one default rule that will tell you running early in the morning is better than in the evening. It's all up you: how you feel, what works better for your daily routines, etc.

There are a few advantages, though:

    1. Time management: it's easier to fit in a running session esp. if you get up a bit earlier.

    2. You'll feel more energized and chances are you will enjoy your day more .

    3. Diet: after a morning run you're more likely to make good diatery choices (e.g. healthy breakfast,  no junk food for lunch).

But these are not rules, you could run late at night  (as I did for a long time) and still enjoy the same advantages.

This your game, you set the rules.

  8. Its better to run in mornings because you are well rested. Youll get yourself well conditioned in the succedding activities of the day.
